Miss Charm and Charm Club president. f V * S w i Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Elects Officers And Announces Plans for the Year (Continued from rase One) School in Raleigh. Her major is elementary education with a minor in sociology. Miss Shelia Springs — Sports. Miss Springs is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Springs of Charlotte. She is a graduate of West Charlotte Senior High School. Her major is elementary education with a minor in physi cal education. Miss Phyllis Scales — Aca demic. Miss Scales is the daugh ter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Scales of Leaksville. She is a graduate of Douglas High School. Her major is elementary education with a minor in his tory. Miss Saundra E. Henderson I'eigns as Miss Sophomore for the 1967-68 school year. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Henderson of Durham. Miss Henderson is a business major. Miss Gwendolyn Davidson, Miss Kappa helped make the first float take the number two position. The lovely Miss David son is a native of Statesville. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Goldie Davidson. Miss Davidson’s major is elementary education. The number three position is held by the Zetas. Miss Cora Lea Dobson reigns as Miss Zeta. She is a senior nursing student. Miss Dobson said, ‘‘When I was crowned Miss Zeta, I was both excited and speechless but most of all I felt honored and proud to have obtained this position. It is my intention now to do all that is within my power to up hold the title that has been be stowed upon me.” The purpose of the float was to convey the qualities of finer womanhood and sisterly love. With Miss Dobson on the float was Miss Jcy Atkinson of Wal- stonburg and Miss Pat Atkinson of Maclesfield. Miss Fannie Satterfield and Miss Carole Leggett were the lovely Charm Club representa tives. Miss Satterfield is a Health and Physical education major. She is a member of the Physical Education Club (PIE), the Charm Club, Big Sister .Organi zation, and Resident Hall Assist ants of Colson Hall Miss Leggett is a native of Fayetteville. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Angus Leggett. Her major is phj^sical education with a minor in Historj-. The Phi Beta Lambda Club chose the lovely Miss France Lorraine Reddick for its queen. Miss Riddick is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Riddick of Ahoskie. Miss Riddick had this to say about being crowned. “I The Zeta Phi Beta Sorority has promise of a very success ful year. New officers are Carolyn Page, president; Sylvia Flack, dean of pledges; Cora Dobson, secretary; Barbara Tuck, assis tant secretary'; Wilma Peoples, treasurer; and Carolyn Brooks, chaplain. Other members include San dra Graves, Eunice Hampton, Theressa Womble, Angeline Moore and Marj' Cureton. Mrs. Vivienne B. Conley is the ad visor to the sorority and Mrs. Susie S. Hillard is the sponsor. The Zeta Phi Beta sorority sponsors the Lady of the Year contest during its yearly celebra tion of Finer Womanhood W'eek. The local graduate chapter of the Zeta Phi Beta sorority spon sors the Blue Review, a talent pageant featuring outstanding young ladies from the surround ing community. The pledge club to the sorori ty is the Archonian Club. Mem bers are Joy Atkinson, Patricia Atkinson, Minnie Brewington, Jackie Parker, and Janice Wright. These “Cats” are striv ing to become full-members by crossing the burning sands in December. The symbols for the sorority and brother fraternity were painted at the beginning of the fall semester in their colors of blue and white. —W. A Nostalgic Look at the Homecoming Parade am thrilled and grateful to my fellow business students for pre senting me with such an honor.” Miss GIG is the lovely Miss Joyce McLaughlin. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ka- thanial McLaughlin of Laurin- burg. Miss McLaughlin is a 1966 graduate of Shaw Senior High School. She i£ currently a busi ness major with a minor in His tory. Miss McLaughlin said, “It is indeed a pleasure and honor to be crowned Aliss GIG.” Miss Peggy Dulin reigns as Miss SNEA. Miss Dulin is a business major from Winston- Salem. She is currently a mem ber of Who’s Who In American Colleges and Universities. Miss Bernice Pender, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Pender reigns as Miss Omega. She is a graduate of Douglas High School in Elm City. Her major is elementary education with a minor in history. Miss Pender is an active member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority. For two j'ears she has been a mem ber of the X.A.A.C.P. The Baptist Student Union dis- plaj'ed their most distinguished members during the homecom ing parade. Miss Clynethia Rod gers is the vice-president of the Union. She is the daughter of Mrs. Edward A. Rodgers of Goldsboro. Miss Van V. Marsh, assistant secretary, is a native of Wash ington, N. C. Miss Janet Mason is President of the Union, She is the daugh ter of Mr. and Mrs. Garland B. Mason of Richmond, Va. Last year one of our CampusTravei Reps Earned $764 and a free trip to Europe.
