THE NEWS ARGUS is a student publication of Winston-Salem State University, the contents of which are the sole responsibility of its students. Marie Denning, Advisor SGA Solicits Support of Students This semester, the S.G.A. has sponsored dances virtually every weekend. There has been a movie almost every Sunday, with movie extravaganzas periodically. The S.G.A. has also sponsored seven bands: Sacred Harvest, New Ultimates, Chocolate Funk, The Eliminators, The Detroit Emeralds and The Manhattans. This is all well and good, but it is not enough. The Student Government As sociation should be, and can be more than that. It is the intention of the S.G.A. to be oriented towards serious campus needs. This is not to say that there will be a reduction of social events, but rather the S.G.A. will start moving in other areas. At present, there is an active S.G.A. Food Committee, which seeks the better ment of (1) service to the students and (2) relations between the dining hall staff and students. Also, due in part to S.G.A. efforts, registration seems to have been bettered, and steps to ease the bookstore situation, seem to have been taken. Radio broadcasts of the Ram basket ball games have been made possible, partly by S.G.A. action and money. Yet, there are still things that need to be done. S.G.A. needs you. It needs your support and your suggestions. We are projecting more speakers and other culturally enriching activities. S.G.A. plans to work with members of the Men’s and Women’s Week commit tees to expand and combine the pro grams. We need your ideas. There will be a box in the Student Union lobby. In it, would you please put your suggestions to S.G.A. The Student Government Association would like to wish all a Merry Christ mas/Happy Hannuka, and a Happy New Year. —Mel Brown HAVE YOU MADE YOUR NEW YEAR’S RESOLUTIONS?
