WSSU Male Chorus
Gives Last Concert
The University Male Chorus gave their
last concert this year at Little Rock
A.M.E. Zion Church in Charlotte. The
concert was sponsored iby the Alumni
Chapter of Charlotte.
The church was packed with standing
room only as once again the choir in
spired many. A few members of the
choir were performing for the last time.
These members were Harry Cohen, Joe
Rice, Lewis Tucker, James Flanders.
They have seen the Male Chorus grow
and are pleased to see the progress since
it was started in 1973. Although singing
has stopped, plans are still being made
for the tour next fall, and meetings are
taking place to keep the group alive.
Miss Cassandra accompanied the male
group on its final concert. She sang dur
ing one of the Chorus’ breaks. Mr. Mar
vin Swimpson played trombone during
one of the intermissions.

Counseling Center May Help
Wow! College is different. For most
students, entering college means chang
ing their mode of living and their ways of
dealing with people. Many new tensions,
pressures, and stresses arise. Students
are faced with complexing issues such
as, I Just Can’t Study, Who Am I,
Where Am I Going, I’m Not Sure I
Should Be In College, I’m Feeling Down,
I Just Need To Talk With Someone, or
Friends Are Hard To Come By.
The Counseling Center at WSSU is
a place that you can come and work on
such issues. A counselor will often listen
more than advise. He or she can help
you explore yourself, your questions, your
concerns, and your decisions. What is
discussed will be kept confidential.
For the 1973-74 academic year 157
students achieved academic probation
status at the end of the 1973 Fall term
and 840 students received mid-term slips
for the 1974 Spring term. Are you includ
ed in these figures because You Just
Can’t Study, You Are Feeling Down, You
Just Need To Talk With Someone, etc.?
Students that have come to the Center
are usually satisfied that they have been
helped with their academic and/or per
sonal-social concerns to some extent.
Why don’t you give it a try? You don’t
have to be a candidate for a mental
institution to come to the Center. We
are concerned about working with you
before you get to that point. Students do
come because They Just Need To Talk
With Someone or They Are Feeling Down.
According to Zen “Human feelings are
frail, the ways of the world are rugged.”
Call on us for assistance as you “truck”
through this rugged world.
The Counseling Center is located on
the 3rd floor of Blair Hall. We look
forward to seeing you.
