Fraternity.
Phi Beta Sigma: As usual, in
the land of Sigmadom, things are
“coming from all ends.” We have
on our spring line two Crescents.
They are Crescent Number one
Bernard Talbot and Crescent
Number two, Butch Jackson. On
March second, we held a Sigma
and Zeta workshop. We had
visiting brothers and sisters from
various other schools. It was
truly a beautiful affair which will
be held annually. On the party
scene, all we have to say is keep
your ear to the air and your eyes
clear, because something will be
jumping off very soon.
Cecil Sharrock,
President
Student
Zeta Phi Beta: the sorors of
Zeta just had a workshop of all of
the black coUeges in the area
which was very well attended and
also representative. They just
completed a celebration of
“Finer Womanhood Week”
which was the last week in
February. It was held in honor of
the founding of the sorority. The
Zetas also had a spring rush
party during the latter portion of
February. It was held on the 26th.
There are two AC’s on line. They
are Roberta Carr and Margaret
Brown.

Poetry
To You:
The Essence of Beauty
Light is the pathway from darkness.
When I look into your eyes I see “light”:
Warmth is nature’s way of giving security.
When I see your smile I feel “warm:”
Beauty is the untouched photo of truth.
When I look at you I see “beauty”:
Truth is beauty, beauty is truth.
When I see you, I see beauty.
And tridy you are “beautiful”.
TOUCH
“Freedom Someday”
Upon this day as I gaze into the skies
All the beautiful things intrude my eyes
Beautiful things that I should always enjoy
seem so close but yet they are far
so far that I can’t respond to the effects
Realizing now that these things are of certain selects
Asking myself why don’t they touch me
Or is it the isolation of never feeling free
never feeling free to wonder into the unknown
.Always being detected with something wrong
As I watch all the people having fun
Expressing their feeling under the radiant sun
makes me oh so contempt
As 1 realize my absence of expressment.
looking around at all the glow
circulates my body in a fearful flow
To site upon nature on so dear
makes me realize that I’m the one I fear.
My mind so tangled with confusion
makes everything around me an abrupt disillusion
To be able to realize that tbe faults in me
insures my possibility that one day I’ll be free
Free to feel the presence of others
Enabling myself to blend in with the sources
To be able to say that everything’s glorious to me
Oh with a praying voice I ask, when will this
day be.

Writing Qinic Assists
There are numerous facilities
on campus to assist the student
who needs academic help. The
Library, Math Tutors, and the
Enrichment Center facilities are
just a few. This year, a new but
not widely publicized “help”
program is in effect again - The
Writing Clinic, sponsored by the
Department of English and
Foreign Languages.
The purpose of the Writing
Clinic is to give any student ■
additional help in written
expression. If you have problems
in grammar and usage, such as
subject-verb agreement, verb
tenses, etc., or problems in
developing and clarifying
themes and paragraphs, or point
of view, the Writing Clinic is for
you. These are just a few of the
more than twenty-seven specific
granmiar errors with which the
helpers can assist you.
The Writing Clinic will serve
any student beyond the freshman
classification who has some
deficiency in English. Although
the student must have a referral
before he can be obtained from
all professors on campus whether
his subject area is English or not.
In addition, the Counseling
Center, also refers students when
the student feels he needs help.
After the referral, the
responsibility of obtaining help
falls on the student. The decision
of when and even whether the
student attends is his own
decision.
Staffed by English Professors,
members of Sigma Tau Delta
English Honor Society and
students advanced in English, the
writing clinic is held in Carolina
Hall Room 213. The clinic is open
from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m., Monday thru
Friday, except during the lunch
hour, with at least one tutor
present at all times. Classwork
and homework will not be done
for the student and no grade is
given for attending the clinic or
for the work done in the clinic.
