Why would a young lady choose to run for
Miss WSSU?
“I feel that being Miss Winston-Salem
State University will give me an opportuni
ty to use the qualities that this school has
helped me develop,” explained this year’s
queen.
Rita Ramona Archer, a 21-year old
English Education major and Mass Com
munications minor from Scotland Neck,
N.C. is Miss WSSU 1985-1986. She is the
daughter of Shirley Zickuhr of Ridgewood,
N.Y.

Her hobbies and interests include
reading, writing, listening to music and
meeting people.
After graduating from WSSU she would
like to attend Ohio State University, “I want
to obtain a Masters in English (MA), I also
hope to attend Law School,” stated Miss Ar
cher.
When asked, what is one thing that you
would like to see happen to WSSU during
your reign? Miss Archer said, “First, I
would like to see more student involvement
with concerns for their school and
themselves. Second, I would like to see bet
ter faculty, staff and student interaction.
Third, I would like to see the students come
together and demand what they want,
because we make WSSU.”
