Alva Kavora Carlisle, Miss Freshman, is
a native of Goldsboro, N.C, and presently is
undecided on a major. She is the daughter of
Rosa Carlisle and has one brother Alvin.
Tonya Alisa Edwards, Miss Winston-
Salem State University 1986-87, she is a
native of Chapel Hill, North Carolina and a
Business Administration major at WSSU.
Miss Edwards is the daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. Robert Edwards and has one brother,
Robbie.
Terri Antionette Hankerson, Miss
Sopomore, is a native of Battleboro, N.C.
and a Nursing major at WSSU. She is the
daughter of Bessie B. Hankerson and has
four brothers.
Angela Diane McIntyre, Miss Junior, is a
native of Charlotte, N.C. and a Economics
major at WSSU. She is the daughter of Katie
Moore and has one brother, three sisters
and two step brothers.
Regina Davine Drakeford, Miss Senior, is
a native of Charlotte, N.C. and a Business
Administration major at WSSU. She is the
daughter of Queen Elizabeth Drakeford and
has four brothers and five sisters.
Dickerson Wins Title
Mr. Ram 1986-87

An Evening Rendevous: “The Total
Man,” was the theme for the 12th Annual
Mr. Ram Pageant held on October 2,1986 in
the Kenneth R. William Auditorium at 8
p.m.
With sincerity and cleverness, Michael
Dickerson, a sophomore from Burlington,
N.C. captivated his audience and now
reigns as 1986-87 Mr. Ram.
The other contestants include Stephon
Jacobs, a senior from Durham, N.C.;
Rodney Moore, a senior from Winston-
Salem, N.C.; George Pass, a sophomore
from Winston-Salem, N.C.; Mozell Duncan,
from Winston-Salem, N.C. and Carlton
Carpenter, a freshman from Winston-
Salem.
The judges were Maxine Clark, Mutter
Evans, Tom Gavin, Terri Gullick, Craig
Marberry, Michael Pitt and Renita Thom-
pkins all of Winston-Salem. Each contestant
was judged by their presentation of Sport
swear, Creative Wear, Formal Wear and
Talent.
As the new Mr. Ram Michael Dickerson
plans to fulfill and uphold all the qualifica
tions that are expected of him. He also plans
to receive student interest in campus ac
tivities during his reign.
Dickerson’s future plans are to become a
Second Lieutenant in the Army and to later
attend graduate school and receive a doc
torate in Business Administration.

Myrtle Black Elected
Miss Alumni 1986-87

Three Winston-Salem State University
alumni are running for Miss Alumni
1986-87. The three contestants have been
chosen from their alumni regions.
The New York Chapter and the Eastern
Atlantic District of the alumni association
have chosen Myrtle S. Black as their can
didate. Black graduated with a BS in
Elementary Education in 1948 and a MA in
Early Childhood Education from New York
University in 1958. She has been a professor
at New York University, Brooklyn College
the College of New Rochelle and a Program
Specialist for Head Start and Day Care
Training Programs in Washington, D.C.
and the University of Maryland.
In 1983 Black opened a private school for
pre-Kindergarten, kindergarten, grades
gone and two in Brooklyn, New York. An
fi after-school tutorial program and a sum-
omer day school is also offered at the school.
X Marie McNair Moore was chosen by the
5 Richmond Metro Chapter. Moore graduated
bin 1966 with a BS in Elementary Education,

tist Church; Richmond Alumni Chapter ot
Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.; Elite
Chapter of American Business Women’s
Association; Richmond Teachers Educa
tional Association and the Metropolitan
League.
The final candidate, Dianne H. Peoples
represents the High Point Chapter. Peoples
graduated in 1966 with a BS in Elementary
Education. She began her educational
career in the Winston-Salem Forsyth Coun
ty School System and later traijsferred to
High Point School System where she has
been teaching for the last 15 years. Peoples
is the president of the High Point Chapter of
WSSU Alumni Association for four years an
active member of the NCAE, NEA; and a
member of the Calvary Baptist Church
where she serves on the choir, chair com
mittees, and participates in many church
affairs.
