10th grade English. “I feel
that high school is the time
when people become most in
fluenced,” said. White. For
this reason, she has decided
to teach on the high school
level. After she graduates
from Winston Salem State
University, she plans to at
tend Iowa State University and
receive a M.A..
Patrice Fletcher is also a
senior doing her student teach
ing. Her area of concentra
tion is Business Education.
Her future plans include ob
taining a teaching job in At
lanta.
Jessica Harris found that
there is a lot of apathy in the
school system. She feels that
the students are not taking
their education seriously. Har
ris has been accepted at the
University of Delaware where
she plans to study English.

Speak Out

Several seniors are doing
their student teaching this
semester. It means waking
up early in the morning and
staying up late at night pre
paring a lesson plan for the
next day's activities.
Student teaching requires
a lot of patience. All chil
dren will not grasp words of
wisdom the first time. How
ever, there are few who can
not be reached by patience
and understanding. Some
student teachers have found
that teaching is^a task that
must be taken seriously.
They realize that their desire
to teach will have a great
impact on the future leaders
of America.
