WSNC-FM 90.5 is at it
again. Now, along with the
10,000 wattage increase, the
station has gained the support of
one of the leading corporations in
the state. RJR Nabisco has
donated $3,000 to WSNC for
underwriting.
“It is the first major
corporation to sign on to help our
radio station,” says Joe Watson,
WSNC’s station manager.
Non-commercial stations
can gain financial support through
large corporations and businesses
through a process called
underwriting. By underwriting, a
station broadcasts the
corporation’s name, location,
telephone number and a brief
contemporary society, child
abuse. Other noteworthy works
include Bowman’s color pencil
piece, A Tiger’s Reflection;
Dickson’s plaster piece. Trinity;
Kuzmanovich’s stoneware piece.
Fish Teapot; and Hargrove’s
replica of Ellis Wilson’s famed
homage. Funeral Passage.

With RJR Nabisco’s help,
WSNC gained the advantage of
having new programs such as:
SBN News, Inside WSSU Today,
Dateline Winston-Salem and
coverage of the CIAA
tournament. It also enables
WSNC sportscasters to travel and
gain experience. Mass
Communication majors and other
students who work at the station
will now be able to gain even
more experience.
Kia Huff, host of Inside
WSSU Today says, “I think it is
absolutely great that RJR Nabisco
is funding a program to recognize
the accomplishments,
achievements and recent
developments of the students.
