Another problem has surfaced for
superstar singer Whitney Houston and her
family. Since her marriage two years ago
to singer/rapper Bobby Brown, Whitney
has had to defend her marriage and her
man every step of the way. It now seems
as though Houston will have to defend
herself.
Sincc 1991 Houston and members of
her family have been stalked and harassed
by crazed fan, Charles Gilbert, of New
Jersey. Gilbert was issued a restraining
order after he disrupted a church service
attended by Houston, her mother. Sissy
and sister-in law, Donna.
Gilbert claims he is the father of
Whitney’s daughter, Bobbie and that they
have a son, Charles Jr. that she kept
hidden from him. Gilbert and his antics
resurfaced not long after Houston post -
pond, eight sold -out concert dates
because of serious throat problems.
Horrid messages were left on the
answering machine of Houston’s
production company. On one message,
Gilbert declared he would return to New
Hope Baptist Church and claim Whitney
as his own.
As Whitney resumed her concert
schedule a close eye was kept on her, her
husband Bobby; and daughter Bobbie
Kristina. During previous shows Whitney
would delight the crowd by inviting
Booby and little Bobbie onstage as she
sang to them, but as Whitney performed
the rescheduled dates that portion of the
show was missing. Fans agreed that her
performance was flawless and fearless.

However, those attending said there were
very high tensions throughout the arena.
Gilbert has sincc been served another
restraining order. Houston is preparing for
a tour of South Africa and also is gearing
Whitney Houston
up for a live HBO conccrt special to
celebrate a new South Africa.
It seems as though “ The Bodyguard
“ has become reality for Whiuiey, but with
three 300 pound bodyguards by her side
and armed guards standing on top of her
lavender, glass mansion, hopefully she
will feel safe and sccure.
Gadsden Has Four Great Seasons

When looking at the Rams line - up
offensively, you can not help but to notice
wide receiver Oronde Gadsden. Standing
at 6’5” and weighing 210 pounds. Gadsden
is a big target. Gadsden is not the fastest
(timed 4.6 in the 40 yard dash) but with his
build and knack for making miraculous
catches, he reminds you of Dallas Cowboy
star receiver Michael Irving.
In his four year WSSU career,
Gadsden has broken ClAA records career
scoring with 294 points , tied the record
for career touchdowns receiving (47) most
receiving TD’s in a game (5) , and the
team most career yards receiving 3,018.
With these skills to guide him, he hopes to
play on Sunday afternoons or Monday
nights (NFL). Conversely, many people
doubt his ability because of his Division II
status. The proof is in the pudding.

Things were not always victorious for
him. As a freshmen entering Winton-
Salem State University in 1990, Gadsden
had to compete against All-American wide
receiver Yancey Thigpen; who presently
plays for the Pittsburgh Steelers. But his
biggest challenge came during the seventh
game of the 1990 season. When Gadsden
faced a career ending injury. In front of a
sellout Homecoming crowd, he made a
terrific, twisting catch. He looked over his
left shoulder and at the last second turned
back to the right and made a spectacular
catch but destroyed his knee in the
process. Many fans doubted that Gadsden
would ever play football again. “ There
was always doubt. On a scale of 1-10, my
injury was 8.5 but when the doctor said
that football was still a possibility, that
was all the motivation I needed,” said
Gadsden.
A year after the game, he returned as
if he never left the game. Watching
