TVovie BY DOUGLAS CLARK AND JACQUES ROUSE Staff Writers Fly Away Home This motion picture definitely will touch your emotions. The movie began with a tragic car accident. Amy (Anna Pequin) a little girl and her mother are talking as they are driving along the road. Her mother briefly looks away from the road. At the next glance a tractor trailer was headed directly for their car. Amy’s mother did not survive the car accident. Amy survived suffering a slight concussion. With no other family living in New Zealand, Amy’s father (Jeff Daniels) came from Canada to get her. Once in Canada, Amy was very rebellious towards her father, his teachings or his way of life. Lonely and seeking companionship, Amy finds some eggs and takes them home to the bam and creates an incubator. Periodically, she checks on them. One day she discovered Terry Badger This year some fans said the 1996 Winston-Salem Slate University Football Team experienced a “building year” or have played “an up and down year.” One of the positive things that the Rams had was their outstanding defensive playing. Terry Badger, a senior linebacker, has been one of the key players who helped make the Ram defense one of the best in the CIAA. Badger, a Clayton, NC native, attended Clayton High School and was named to the All-Conference Team his 10th, 11th and 12th grade years. He decided to pursue a collegiate football career at WSSU because “ I wanted to go to a historically black college and did not want to be to far away from home.” The Rams’ history for also fielding a strong team gave Badger another reason to become a Ram. After graduation, Badger plans to pursue a career in therapeutic recreation and spend more lime with his 8 month old daughter, Tamia. they were hatching. The plot thickens once the geese are hatched and begin learning to adapt to their new environment. Since Amy is the only mother the geese know, they attentively watch and follow her every move. Because the geese thought Amy was their mother, they felt they were to walk instead of fly around. With the careful guidance and extraordinary help from her father, Amy teaches the geese to fly. To find out how they do this, I suggest you see this movie over the Christmas holidays. This is movie for all members of the family. The Associate In The Associate, Whoopi Goldberg (Laurel Ayers) as a very competent and ambitious black woman who has already reached the “Glass Ceiling” in her career as a financial analyst. Ayers was so dedicated and blinded BY DANIELLE; PROPHliTE AND SIIARONDA WILCOX Staff Writers Lil’ Kim “Hard Core” Hard Core, Nasty and totally degrading to women is how you would describe LIT Kim’s debut album, “Hard Core.” It appears that she and Foxy Brown are competing to sec who has the nastiest lyrics. Songs like “Queen Bitch” and “We Don’t Need It” have a “phat beat” but the lyrics are too vulgar to appreciate it. The album has 15 uacks. Almost all of them have something to do with demeaning sexual acts. Various songs suggest that all women want from a man is money and oral sex and Lil’ Kim reinforces that stereotype. Producers who contribute to this mess are Jermaine Dupri for So So Def Productions, Prestige and Sean “Puffy” Combs from Bad Boy Entertainmeni, just to name a few. This CD receives TWO thumbs down! Foxy Brown “III Na Na” With her much anticipated debut album performer Foxy Brown has entered the “heavyweight” hip-hop competition with her male counterparts. Although the CD is full of materialistic and sexually oriented lyrics similar to female hip-hop artist Lil Kim, the CD has a strong beat and Foxy represents like a true “hip- by her loyalty that when she was down sized, it caught her completely by surprise. Laurel’s best friend and sidekick, Sally, (Dianne Wiest) helped her deal with her dilemma. Laurel started her own business with a very unique IMAGE. Laurel’s goal for her company was to change Wall Street’s attitude towards others who they' considered to be outsiders in their profession. The Associate shows you that you can make it with self-respect instead of surrounding yourself with people who have no respect for you at all. hopU'CSS.” With the 13 songs including “Get You Home,” featuring Blackstreei, “Holy Matrimony-Letter to the Firm” and a remake of LL Cool J’s “Rock the Bells” titled “Foxy’s Bells.” What really makes this CD worth while is the guesi appearances of Havoc, Blackstreet, Method Man, Kid Capri and Jay Z. Foxy may have been able to represent alone, but without help from her fellow rappers her CD wouldn’t have been “all that.” Blackstreet Another Level With their second album in stores now, Blackstreet brings melody and rhythm to the R&B scene. Executive producers Teddy “Street” Riley and Chauncey “Black” Hannibal added llavor to this CD which includes the hit No Diggity featuring Dr. Dre and Queen Pen. No Diggity, with its down home blues, feature samples from (Irandma’s Hand by Bill Withers to keep your head nodding. This 19 track CD is Blackstreet’s sophomore effort and only has a few tracks that will get your attention. The other cuts should have been discarded. With the creativity that Teddy Riley possesses, 1 expected more of him. However, Another Level is not a total disappointment. Several ballads are very surprising. I Can’t (Jet You (Off My Mind) has the mellowed out feel of a true love ballad. Let’s Stay in Love and (Jood Lovin’ arc also two .songs that may keep this CD alive. ***FREE TRIPS & CASH*** Find out how hundreds of student representatives are already earning FREE TRIPS and LOTS OF CASH with America's #1 Spring Break Company!
