Shenitra Dickerson, Tatia Tolbert, Rajeshwari Patel, Guadalupe Leonard, Donna Crump, Darren Hicks, Marel Delli Santi, Christopher Weston, Michelle Montgomery, Lester Jones, Rebecca Williams, Michelle Pugh, Angel Gallimore, and Lalonya Goins, will work at different hospitals around the nation doing their laboratory rotations. The student will work in places as for away as Hawaii, Tennessee and various places in North Carolina. Once the rotations are over some of the students are hoping to get job offers from the lab they are visiting. Pugh will do her rotation in Hawaii. On Oct. 1, 1997, they began working in five different areas which included: chemistry, hematology. microbiology, blood bank and urinalysis. At the completion of the six months, each student will have received hands on experience as laboratory technicians. They then return to WSSU in May for commencement where they will receive their bachelor’s degrees in Clinical Science. These seniors are very excited about beginning their rotations. They are even more excited knowing once the rotations are completed, they will receive job offers. Because the versatility of this field’s skills expands into many areas (such as research and premedical studies): these students may find work with private laboratories, in government laboratories or with the Center for Disease Control (CDC). “In the past the students have gotten jobs,” said Hicks, who will be returning to the military once he graduates. Dr. Donna Leach, who is the interim director of the Clinical Laboratory Science Department is happy and proud of her students. “This year’s class seems to be more excited about their rotations than last year’s class,” she explained. Overall, the students all agree that the main benefit of participating in the laboratory rotations is that they will become exposed to newer technology. The hospitals will have more advanced equipment that most of the students have not had the opportunity to work on and they are really excited about getting started. Inside The 411 BY IRAQ TIERA A. KING Staff Writer Would you like to have the full 411 on the latest juice happening’ in Black World Entertainment News? Well, The News Argus has the real scoop! So if you don’t know it, you’ll know the inside stuff now. It seems that a lot has been happening with female celebs. The latest with rapper Lil’ Kim is that she shot her video in West Palm Beach, Horida and it cost around $650,000. Although the artist pays for only half of the production it was the live animals (not those naked well famed men) but the tigers, monkeys and lions that sky rocketed the production price. I would like to suggest that the fashion police handcuff, ticket and mace Lil’Kim for her ghetto image and broken off blonde edges in the video, Ladies Night because she looked a FRIGHT! As for the ladies of TLC, Left Eye has signed her own groups to her production called. Left Eye Production. One of the groups, “Black”, which consists of three singers. “Sihouettee” and "Nand’i are also signed with the petite lady. As for Chili, she has her hands full with a bundle of joy. About two months ago Chilli gave birth to a baby boy. She and producer Dallas Austin are very proud parents. T-Boz is also branching out and working with various groups and plans to do animated cartoons as well. T-Boz recently threw a major bash for her sweetie of Jodeci, Mr. Dalvin. Mr. Dalvin and T-Boz have been a item for about two years now and the party she held for her man was a 24- Hour Party, named after Dalvin’s upcoming album 24 Hour Party. LaTocha from Xscape and her fiance, manager, and fathe^-lo- be of their baby boy, Rocky Bivens, recently had a house warming and baby shower at the couple’s new million dollar home in Atlanta. Speaking of babies! Tommy Ford from the non-returning sitcom, Martin and his wife, Gina, are expecting a baby in January 1998. You can now see Ford on the new New York Undercover when it returns next season. The every stylish and spiritual Erykah Badu and her soul mate from Outkast, Dre are also looking forward to their first child in mid-spring. Giant gospel great Kirk Franklin, is rising up the charts with his praise and worship team, “God’s Property.” Kirk and his wife, Tammy shouted. Hallelujah when their little lady came. Their daughter, Kennedy, is about two months old. If you haven’t seen the video or purchased Franklin’s new CD - it’s a must have for your collection. Bobby and Whitney Brown have been known for their drama in the media but Bobby has stated his case. It is rumored that Bobby was not the cause of Whitnej’s two inch scar on her face that took place while she was on vacation this summer. Rumored as an accident, Bobby was not there when the accident happened but was by his wife’s side at the hospital giving support. (We don’t need anymore black on black crime. They have been married for five years!) Gladys Knight and her short term husband, Les Brown didn’t last as long as her new Atlanta based “ Gladys Knight’s Chicken and Waffle Joint” which is located on the east side of Atlanta. I visited the restaurant this summer, for my birthday with my sweetie, and I must admit, the food was DYNAMITE!*#@. If you’ve never had chicken and waffles you’ll be licking your fingers after paying your bill. We wish Ms.Knight much love as she goes forth as a single, suong and rich black woman of the 90s. Vanessa Williams and her hubby of some years ended their marriage but you know there is no stopping Ms.Williams. She has a new album out , along with a new video and she is starring in Baby Face’s new moved Soul Food which Baby Face’s wife, Tracey Edmonds, is the producer. The Soul Food sound track was released in September. On the soundtrack you can hear smooth jams from, Xscape, EnVogue, Blackstreet, Outkast , Tony Toni Ton’e and Dm Hill. Now before we leave this month’s “Inside The 411” let me put a bug in your ear. The word is that R. Kelly, “12 play. Bump and Grind,” now a Christian has gotten married! Reports say that last January, Kelly married Andrea, one of his darKers. If this story is true we would like to say, Congratulations! Until next time that’s “Inside The 411”
