At orientation, Swink met

Ironically, the

them both into the world of SGA

Mr. Ram 2002-2003
Corey Ruffin is not resting
on his laurels. In fact he
is hoping that his time
with the title will set an
example for the male pop

The 28th annual event
was held last month to a
packed audience in the
Kermeth R. Williams

Dubbed a festival of

Ruffin hopes that his

Ruffin's spoke to The

after his crowning and
said that males are one of
his major concerns which
he feels needs to be

2. Patrick, known as “Ro,” is a
molecular biology major with a
3.83 GPA. She will probably fur

Miss Winston-Salem State
University 2002-2003 Rolanda
Patrick has constantly said, "If you
need anything, just let me know."
And she sincerely means it. After
hearing about WSSU from her
high school guidance counselor
who just happened to be an alum,
she developed an unchanging love
and commitment to the institution
and those within it.
But even before she was elected
as Miss WSSU last spring, she
knew all about the importance of
loyalty, dedication, and compas
sion.
The Elmsford, New York native
is the product of parents with ded
ication as well. They have been
married for 32 years, and held the
same jobs for 35 years.
In this case, the apple didn't fall
very far from the tree. Patrick,
affectionately known as "Ro," has
definitely learned how to be dedi
cated in her own right.
Her commitment to academic
excellence afforded her the oppor
tunity to be valedictorian of her
high school class, as well as a
Chancellor's Scholar while in col
lege. The molecular biology major
manages to maintain a 3.83 GPA,
and hopes to continue her educa
tional career upon graduation in
May. Patrick would like to obtain
her master's in Public Health
before going on to medical school
