The News Argus, December 2002 WAR, from page 5 Countries in the U.N. have mixed views about supporting the idea of attacking Iraq. The U.S. says that it does not need full endorsement from the U.N. to proceed with an attack on Baghdad if inspectors declare that Iraq is not complying. Everett said, "There are many countries that may be intimidated by the U.S... I don't think that other countries really agree with how the U.S. is dealing with things." Elijah Bolin, a senior chemistry major at Wake Forest University, said that he feels there is a lot of apathy on the student's Campus “news part. He added that there is much ignorance to the issue, but if students were to discuss it there would probably be a good diver sity of opinions. "You'll find liberals that wholeheartedly disagree with the war," Bolin said. "1 have family in the mili tary. We need to come up with a clear reason for the attack. Even if there were; is preemption a viable reason? The Anierican public has that to decide. I could fall on the side of supporting the attack on Iraq. 1 believe preemption is good." Other students have the concern that if we do go to war, there needs to be less public discussion about war strategies and that the current state of the economy should be considered. The consensus is there should be lessons learned from the '91 war when the U.S. thought they captured Hussein, and from the Afghanistan conflict. "1 think it's necessary for the U.S. to learn better tactics if we are going to See WAR, Page 8 DISRUPTION, from page 5 mediation has occurred," the policy states. The mediators will not come from the student population. The department head will serve as a mediator along with another mem ber of administration. The policy has been reviewed up to the Board of Trustees. If a student is disruptive in class, the key is to have a successful mediation, to prevent going through the student judicial system. Disruptive behavior can lead to possibly failing the class, being that the stu dent cannot attend class prior to mediation and/or a hearing. Congratulations to the Class of 2002 from The Argus BMC, from page 5 "Corey and I were sit ting in the office and dis cussing the issues that were concerning the black man. We said we needed to have a forum for this. But after discussions we thought we were going to make it an organization to make it enduring," said Andrews. As for the event he was really surprised by the numbers that were in attendance. "It was a really good turn out. A lot of ideas were discussed a lot of positive dialogue," he said. "I think that as time grows it will be something that will bring about unity and change." It is expected that the brotherhood started will blossom into an organiza tion which will show that not every make has fallen by the way side. "Each one teach one," said Ruffin. The group hopes to extend several arms out to the community through mentor programs, family out reach programs and a number of other events which are in the foresee able future. In the meantime the mean are hoping to have monthly meetings in the coming months to see Forsiith fieafeod Cafe /SSU - FREE DELIVERY Fresh Seafood Direct To You! Other areas of interest they were looking to explore were the males on campus and their relation ship with administration, with themselves and the opposite sex. "We want to create an enduring legacy," said Andrews. Consequently for this event it did appear that for every good black male there was a few good women behind them as refreshments for the meet ing were provided by Delta Sigma Theta Inc.
