There were quite a number of people in line before the first of the two K.R. Williams meetings and I was concerned I might not make it to the booth before the meeting was to start, so I decided to go in, attend the meeting, and get my decal after wards. However, when I made it to the booth before the 2 p.m meeting, I learned—much to my surprise!—that the gated parking which I have been using for several years now. Lot U, had been sold out. From what I gather, U-lot decals were sold, till available, to anybody requesting one. Allow me to point out to you that there was no indication whatsoever in your e-mail message that the first-come-first- served policy would be applied in the decal-selling process, and I find it very odd that it was, thus possibly favoring people who were late for the 10 o'clock meeting, sneaked out early, or never attended it. Also, 1 was wondering what the point was requesting people to have their gate keys with them if said keys played no part in one's getting a decal in the lot one has previously used. I think that we, the faculty and staff, would have deserved being told in full what the decal-selling process would go like, and 1 am looking forward to hearing from you whether it was I who misinterpreted your e-mail message or rules/procedures not outlined therein it were used in the process. SGA leader shares thoughts about recent Division I transition decision As many of you know, Sept. 11, 2009, the Winston- Salem State University Board of Trustees voted unani mously to support the recom mendation from the Chancellor that WSSU remain a Division II athletic program in the NCAA. If you visit the University homepage, you will find more information on the NCAA Division I Transition Decision that Argus Op-Ed includes a news release, background information, and Frequently Asked Questions. Also, please remember that this issue was inherited from our predecessors and a decision had to be made. We understand that this is a critical time in the develop ment of a student-athletes career, but the decision was based around Winston-Salem State University's inability to financially support the Division I transition. The University is working hard to insure that all stu dents that are affected by the change are assisted in the process. Moreover, since this affects so many of our fellow Rams, we must continue to support our university and future Alma Mater as alumni and GIVE BACK as well as sup port our student-athletes when they are performing. The success of the institu tion is dependent upon the drive and commitment of the student body. Thus, I charge you with this question - "What will you pledge?" Will you walk with the strength, vigor, and pride of a TRUE RAM? What will you commit to your fellow Rams? What will you commit to yourselves and to your future Alma Mater? 1 hope that you will take great pride in having such an important role in shaping the university's future. Many of your questions may be unanswered and if so, please feel free to e-mail me and I will make sure they are addressed. Whitney N.
