Class of 1959
John L. Whitley and his wife Susan
live in Elizabeth City. John is the
Director of the Incentive Scholarship
Program.
Class of 1961
Kathleen Drudge Browning is a
court reporter. Kathleen has two sons,
one studying to be an architect, the
other a lawyer. She and her husband
Williard reside in Tazewell, VA.
Class or 1965
Sidney L. Faucette is superintendent
of schools of Virginia Beach, VA.
Class of 1967
Ben Herndon and his wife Susan
have been married for 22 years and
have one daughter, Erin. Ben is the
Athlctic Director at Chancellor High
School in Spotsylvania County, VA.
Ben is presently serving a three year
term on the Chowan College Braves
Club Hall of Fame Selection Commit
tee.
Class of 1971
Margaret Susan Riggs and Captain
Edmund Bernard Szetela were united in
marriage on April 20,1991. They were
married aboard the schooncr "Isla Dc
Ibiaza”. Margaret is a registered nurse
in the neonatal intensive care nursery at
Pitt County Memorial Hospital in
Greenville.
Class of 1972
William H. Parker is in private
practice as a Electromagnctic Compati
bility Consultant. Bill has attended
seminars in Alaska, Arizona, California,
Colorado, Illinois, Michigan, Montana,
Nevada, New Mexico, Washington,
Australia, and Canada. Bill has chaired
multiple EMC symposium technical
sessions and presented technical papers
to international engineering and
government audiences in the U.S.,
Canada, and Japan. Bill is a licensed
pilot with airplane. Bill and his wife
Connie have a daughter, Jennifer, and
reside in California.
Class of 1973
F. Elise Ownbey Chatlleld is a
music teacher in Wrens, CA. Her
husband Jim is a Lt./Reverend/Chaplain
and has been U’ansferred to Long Beach,
CA. Elise will join her husband after
bidding farewell to her piano students.

Raymond Parrisher has been named
unit manager telephone sales and
training for Carolina Telephone and
Telegraph.
Class of 1976
Phyllis Holland Greene and husband
Michael reside in York, PA. She has
two daughters, Eva and Laura. Phyllis is
the Director of Christian Education at
St. James Church.
Class of 1978
Melinda Martindale Geer is a
customer service representative for J. T.
Davenport. She and her husband
Kenneth reside in Sanford.
Class of 1979
Nell Rose Long and Wayne Armory
Hudgins, II were united in marriage on
June 8. The couple will reside in Kill
Devil Hills.
Class of 1980
Mickie Evans Buckner and her
husband James are proud parents of a
daughter, Shanna Nichole, bom May
30,1991. Mickie resides in Canton.
Class of 1982
Lynette Farrell and Bruce Rochelle
were united in marriage on June 15,
1991. Lynette is a desktop forms
designer for Major Business Forms.
Christine Kinsley Ferguson and her
husband Mark (class of '83) have two
children 3-1/2 years old Ashley and 3
month old Matthew Ross. Christine and
her family reside in Ft. Lee, VA.
Kevin Foster Moyer and Kimberly
Earle have announced their engage
ment. A September wedding is planned.
Kevin resides in Sandston, VA.
Krista Schleicher Newton and Brian
arc expecting their first child in early
October. Krista has been attending
Grossmont-Cuyamaca College pursuing
her teaching career.
Jill Waring Stoneman is a Service
Representative for Virginia Power in
Richmond, VA. Jill attended HITEK
this summer at Chowan.
Class of 1983
Mark Ferguson served in the Army
in Saudi Arabia during Operation
Desert Shield/Storm. He is married to
Christine Kinsley, class of 1982.
Sherri Ward Janelle and her
husband Christopher reside in
Richmond, VA.
Class of 1984
Lisa Carden Burgess and husband
Joseph reside in Semora. Lisa was
named to the 1991 Spring Semesters
Dean's List at Methodist College where
she is majoring in Education and plans
to teach.
Class of 1985
Anne Nicholson Hogewood is an
Assistant Public Defender for the 26th
Judicial District. Ann and her husband
Lee reside in Charlotte.
Class of 1986
Alvis Alexander Alston and Tracey
LaVonne Williams were united in
marriage in May 1991. Alvis is em
ployed with Meredith-Webb. The
couple reside in Graham.
Class of 1987
Brenda Knowles Bettinger and her
husband Gary reside in Almond, NY.
Timothy Curran and Wendy Joy
Watson (Call of '88) were united in
marriage on August 3,1991. Timothy is
a mason for B&B Construction Com
pany.
Kevin Lee Dunlow and Teresa Lee
Horsley were united in marriage on July
14,1991. Kevin is employed by Perdue
Farms. The couple reside in Roanoke
Rapids.
Thomas C. Ives and his wife Kellie
reside in Sidney, NY. They were wed
on May 23,1991. Thomas is a service
manager for a supply company.
Tracy Lynn Whitley is a medical
transcriptionist for Halifax Internal
Medicine Association in Roanoke
Rapids.
Class of 1988
Mel Franklin Emory, Jr. teaches
physical education and is a football
coach at Anson Sr. High School. Mel
and his wife Lorraine have a 10 month
old son, Brock. They reside in Lancas
ter, SC.
Angela Felton became Mrs. Salerno
on July 27,1991. She became engaged
during a November visit to campus.
Michelle Christiane Jones and Paul
Edward Duprey were united in marriage
on June 22,1991. Michelle is a nurse at
University of Virginia Hospital.
Michelle and Paul reside in Charlot
tesville.
Robert Lee New and Billie Von
Knowles were united in marriage on
June 23,1991. Robert is employed by
Lundy Packing Company. The couple
reside in Clinton.
Paige Myers of Ahoskie graduated
from ECU in '90 with the B.S. in
Apparel/Textiles. In June Paige
attended the International Textile
Weaving School in Haderslev, Den
mark.

Curran (class of '87) were united in
marriage on August 3,1991. Wendy is
a physician assistant/office manager for
Dr. Yvette Janvier.
Class of 1989
Dianne Finnette Askew and Randy
Alan Byrum have announced their
engagement. The wedding date is set
for September 14. Dianne makes her
home in Suffolk, VA.
Sonja Woods will be attending Wake
Technical Community College in
Raleigh and will earn an Associate
Degree in Radiologic Technology.
Sonja resides in Chapel Hill.
