-L On the Campus Presentations made during annual Christmas dinner for faculty and staff Five inducted into prestigious Order of Lux et Veritas Faculty, staff members cited for service milestone Twenty-five members of the Chowan College faculty and staff, including five new inductees into the prestigious Order of Lux et Veritas, were recognized for their years of service at the annual Christmas dinner earlier this month. The awards were presented by Dr. Jerry F. Jackson, president, and Mrs. Elaine Myers, chair of the Board of Trustees. Inducted into the Order of Lux et Veritas, in recognition of 25 years of continuous service to the college, were Mrs. Pricilla Branch, Dr. Andrea Eason, Mrs. Evelyn Porter, Mrs. Linda E. Tripp, and Mrs. Daisy Vaughan. Each new inductee was presented a gold watch bearing the seal of the college, a lapel pin, and a certificate of membership. They are also afforded special privileges of membership and their names are engraved on a plaque which is displayed in McDowell Columns. Michael Allen, vice president for business affairs, inducted Mrs. Branch and Mrs. Vaughan, both food service employees, as well as Mrs. Porter, a member of the housekeeping staff. Dr. Andrea Eason, director of academic computing and a member of the Department of Business, was inducted by Mrs. Dorothy Wallace, chairperson of the department. Mrs. Tripp, director of counseling, was inducted by G. Bruce Moore, vice president for student development. Other members of the faculty and staff completing years of service of five-year blocks were presented lapel pins and a check totaling $5.00 for each year of their service. Warren G. Sexton, associate professor of Dr. Jackson con gratulates Warren Sexton upon the completion of 35 years of continuous service. Sexton, associate professor of social science, was chairman of the social science department fora number of years. social science, received a standing ovation when he was recognized for 35 years of continuous service to the college. Sexton joined the faculty in 1959 and served for many years as chairman of the Department of Social Science. Those completing thirty years of service were Janet Collins, assistant professor of health and physical education; Peggy Hare, secretary to the director of of personnel; and Dr. B. Franklin Lowe,Jr., vice president for academic affairs. Aldeen Gatewood, manager of the college bookstore, and Daniel Surface, associate profes sor of health and physical education, were hon ored for twenty years of service. Those recognized for ten years of service were: W. C. Bryant, Jr., Dr, Joyce Elliott, Dr. Carl Garrott, Hilda L. Gatling, Betfie W. Ricks, Ronald M. Sumner and John Bernard Vaughan. Five year faculty and staff members were: Kevin L. Clary, Dr. Kenneth M. Craig, Jr., Jenny T. Eakin, Alan L. Goldberg, Rebecca D. Mann, and Carole Nicholson. Dr. Jackson also received a lapel pin and check upon the completion of his fifth year as president of the institution.
