I really don’t know how to start this because it shouldn’t have to be said, but it is a shame that people in this day and age are still judging others by the color of their skin. Much to my dismay. I, as a judge, at the Spring Festival Pageant, saw this happen. The Pageant had many beautiful girls in it, and I feel that some of them were not given a fair chance! We, as students, come to college to learn how to get along with all people and to accept one another for what they are. It is sad that we have some adults here that have not learned to accept people for what they are as was shown Thursday night at the Pageant. The purpose of the Pageant was to select the girls with the most beauty, poise, talent, and best personality, yet I feel that some were not judged on this criteria, but on the color of their skin. I had hoped that this year’s Pageant would be a great success, but due to the prejudice held by some of the judges, I feel that this Pageant ended in discord. I only wish that there were some way to make it up to those who were so unjustly treated. This is my opinion, but I am sure that most of the students of this college feel the same with me. I hope that someday these silly prejudices can be dropped, and we can all accept each other for what we are and not for the physical appearance!
