We would be charged by Mr. Deskins, 10 cents per cup and we would charge 15 cents and put the profit into the concert fund. Names were taken of those willing to sell after this was passed by a vote. In order to obtain a better Drive Ends With Over Two Tons Over two tons of paper has been received by the Chowan College Science CTub, which is ending its newspaper drive March 1. Professor Gilbert Tripp, club sponsor, said the paper will be sold to a recycling plant. Proceeds will help defray club expenses and purchase equip ment for Chowan’s science facility, Carrie Savage Camp Hall. “We appreciate the support the public has extended to the Science Club in its endeavor,” Tripp commented. He said the project has helped create interest in conservation among the 25 club members. “We hope it has also demonstrated to the public the importance of conserving our country’s natural resources,” Tripp added. He said if any individual or group is interested in sponsoring a similar project, the Federal Paper Board Co. in Roanoke Rapids will piu*chase bundled newsprint from 8 a.m. - 3 p.m. Monday through Thursday. Tripp summed up the project, which began in October, as “very successful.” concert band Mr, Sessoms had made us aware of a National Entertainment Conference in Washington D. C. where it would t)e made easier to book some big name bands. It would be $75.00 per delegate plus their expenses. We would send Andy Grimes and a freshman who would be returning. After discussion this was passed and arrangements were made. The Movie Conunittee then gave a report of the movies or dered and the dates they would be shown. They are as follows: ‘ ‘Bob & Carol & Ted & Alice’ ’ — February 4, “Dracula Has Risen From the Grave” — February 22, “Spook Spectacular” — February 22, “The Endless Sununer” — March 4, “Go Ask Alice” — March 25, and “Two Lane Blackton” — April 1. These movies are free to the student body. The first movie was very well attended. It was brought up that the picture was small on the screen and maybe a wide angle lens could be obtained and this is going to be looked into. The Booster Committee was put in charge of organizing a Sock Hop. They would be responsible for obtaining a record player and records, and in charge of publicity. The reserving of the cafeteria and permission would be taken care of by one of the officers. The last order of business was sponsoring a bus to the last game. Mr. Atkinson said he would drive the bus if we would take care of publicity. This was agreed on and passed. In selecting candidates for membership, the society seeks young people of character, in telligence, leadership, scholarship and superior com petence in secretarial subjects. During the Candlelight Service, initiates pledged to uphold the high ideals of scholarship, 50's Dance - March 13 Free Meal at Village Squire for Best Dressed Male and Female Debrorah Kaye Woodward, Conway. The meeting was brought to order and first order of business was to inform the members what had been discussed at a recent Student-Faculty Relations meeting. We had teen instructed to get a list of the main gripes students have. We asked the Legislators for rational well- expressed reasons and some solutions if possible. It had also been brought up that there was a lack of entertainment in our town here and maybe if someone would talk to the town council .something would get going. This was voted on and passed. The next order of business was the 50’s dance on March 13. We want the students to dress up and asked for ideas to promote en thusiasm. We decided to offer a meal at the Squire for the best dressed male and female. We also decided to collect pictures of the faculty and administration and publish them in the Smoke Signals for students to guess who they were. This was passed. Andy Grimes then spoke of his trip to D.C. We had returned because of some extra costs and after evaluatiing everything he decided what we would gain CCF-B5U Revival Team Shares with Oalcmont leadership, and cooperation- watchwords of Alpha Pi Chapter, Alpha Pi Epsilon. Following the Formal Can dlelight Ceremony, new mem bers of Alpha Pi Chapter, the chapter sponsor, and members of the Faculty in the Department of Business and old members en joyed an Informal Banquet Dinner at the Village Squire Steak House. The CCF-BSU had its first revival team to go out this semester during the weekend of February the 14th. The team made up of four of the members were Ernie Ethridge , Vicki Ash- burn, John Carrington and Teresa. They went to lead a youth revival at the Oakmont Baptist Church in Greenville. The team were housed by members of, the church. On Friday the team was invited to a sweetheart banquet where they ate ( a lot) and joined in on the fellowship. John taught everyone how to do the “Turkey walk” before the evening was over and everyone enjoyed it. Saturday the team was at the church bright and early to hold a group discussion with the youth about LOVE, later in the morning they joined in a rollicking game of football. The group ended the morning with a sit-around and ate a bag lunch. Saturday afternoon the team decided to go out and shop around at Pitt Plaza. The day was going just fine until Vicki removed a - bowling ball from a rack and the entire thing caved in. There were no injuries reported only five cases of slight shock: Vicki, Teresa, Ernie, John, and the store manager. Saturday night Ernie lead the service which was mostly singing and sharing testimonies. At Sunday morning worship service Vicki sang a hymn with the choir, Teresa read the scripture, Ernie shared his testimony and John preached the sermon. would not have been worth the extra costs. We discussed the concert and what planning was going on, although nothing was definite as of yet. He said that we were going to have to hire police. There was going to be a lot of work to be done and the officers were going to need help building a stage and selling and taking up of tickets. The last things mentioned before closing the meeting was that the Talent Show is Tueday and Wednesday night in Daniel Hall at 8:00. The admission would be 25 cents. Also for the movie Saturday night it was decided that in order to keep the students from smoking it would be up to us to keep the students reminded during the movie. The show presented by various students at 8:00 both nights. Thanks is ex tended to Tim Thompson, who served as Master of Ceremony; Andy Grimes, Cathy Hemilla, and Jack Quinn. Also special thanks to the students who ac tually participated making the event successful.
