The first order of business was
to discuss the selhng of drinks at
the dance Feb. 13. We would be
charged by Mr. Deskins, 10 cents
per cup and we would charge 15

Drive Ends With
Over Two Tons
Over two tons of paper has been
received by the Chowan College
Science CTub, which is ending its
newspaper drive March 1.
Professor Gilbert Tripp, club
sponsor, said the paper will be
sold to a recycling plant.
Proceeds will help defray club
expenses and purchase equip
ment for Chowan’s science
facility, Carrie Savage Camp
Hall.
“We appreciate the support the
public has extended to the
Science Club in its endeavor,”
Tripp commented. He said the
project has helped create interest
in conservation among the 25 club
members. “We hope it has also
demonstrated to the public the
importance of conserving our
country’s natural resources,”
Tripp added.
He said if any individual or
group is interested in sponsoring
a similar project, the Federal
Paper Board Co. in Roanoke
Rapids will piu*chase bundled
newsprint from 8 a.m. - 3 p.m.
Monday through Thursday.
Tripp summed up the project,
which began in October, as “very
successful.”
concert band Mr, Sessoms had
made us aware of a National
Entertainment Conference in
Washington D. C. where it would
t)e made easier to book some big
name bands. It would be $75.00
per delegate plus their expenses.
We would send Andy Grimes and
a freshman who would be
returning. After discussion this
was passed and arrangements
were made.
The Movie Conunittee then
gave a report of the movies or
dered and the dates they would be
shown. They are as follows:
‘ ‘Bob & Carol & Ted & Alice’ ’ —
February 4, “Dracula Has Risen
From the Grave” — February 22,
“Spook Spectacular” —
February 22, “The Endless
Sununer” — March 4, “Go Ask
Alice” — March 25, and “Two
Lane Blackton” — April 1.
These movies are free to the
student body. The first movie was
very well attended. It was
brought up that the picture was
small on the screen and maybe a
wide angle lens could be obtained
and this is going to be looked into.
The Booster Committee was
put in charge of organizing a Sock
Hop. They would be responsible
for obtaining a record player and
records, and in charge of
publicity. The reserving of the
cafeteria and permission would
be taken care of by one of the
officers.
The last order of business was
sponsoring a bus to the last game.
Mr. Atkinson said he would drive
the bus if we would take care of
publicity. This was agreed on and
passed.
Respectfully Submitted,

The meeting was brought to
order and first order of business
was to inform the members what
had been discussed at a recent
Student-Faculty Relations
meeting. We had teen instructed
to get a list of the main gripes
students have. We asked the
Legislators for rational well-
expressed reasons and some
solutions if possible. It had also
been brought up that there was a
lack of entertainment in our town
here and maybe if someone
would talk to the town council
.something would get going. This
was voted on and passed.
The next order of business was
the 50’s dance on March 13. We
want the students to dress up and
asked for ideas to promote en
thusiasm. We decided to offer a
meal at the Squire for the best
dressed male and female. We
also decided to collect pictures of
the faculty and administration
and publish them in the Smoke
Signals for students to guess who
they were. This was passed.
Andy Grimes then spoke of his
trip to D.C. We had returned
because of some extra costs and
after evaluatiing everything he
decided what we would gain

The CCF-BSU had its first
revival team to go out this
semester during the weekend of
February the 14th. The team
made up of four of the members
were Ernie Ethridge , Vicki Ash-
burn, John Carrington and
Teresa. They went to lead a youth
revival at the Oakmont Baptist
Church in Greenville. The team
were housed by members of, the
church.
On Friday the team was invited
to a sweetheart banquet where
they ate ( a lot) and joined in on
the fellowship. John taught
everyone how to do the “Turkey
walk” before the evening was
over and everyone enjoyed it.
Saturday the team was at the
church bright and early to hold a
group discussion with the youth
about LOVE, later in the morning
they joined in a rollicking game
of football. The group ended the
morning with a sit-around and
ate a bag lunch.
Saturday afternoon the team
decided to go out and shop around
at Pitt Plaza. The day was going
just fine until Vicki removed a -
bowling ball from a rack and the
entire thing caved in. There were
no injuries reported only five
cases of slight shock: Vicki,
Teresa, Ernie, John, and the
store manager.
Saturday night Ernie lead the
service which was mostly
singing and sharing testimonies.
At Sunday morning worship
service Vicki sang a hymn with
the choir, Teresa read the
scripture, Ernie shared his
testimony and John preached the
sermon.
would not have been worth the
extra costs. We discussed the
concert and what planning was
going on, although nothing was
definite as of yet. He said that we
were going to have to hire police.
There was going to be a lot of
work to be done and the officers
were going to need help building
a stage and selling and taking up
of tickets.
The last things mentioned
before closing the meeting was
that the Talent Show is Tueday
and Wednesday night in Daniel
Hall at 8:00. The admission would
be 25 cents. Also for the movie
Saturday night it was decided
that in order to keep the students
from smoking it would be up to us
to keep the students reminded
during the movie.
