April 2, 197S (April 9 - rain date) Tee-off will be at 9:30 a.m. WHERE:The tournament will take place at the Old Mill Golf Men’s Intramural Softball Rules Dean Dilday’s office has I released the following general information concerning the men’s Intramural softball schedule. 1. Official slow pitch rules will be followed with the exception that no spiked shoes will be worn you must wear tennis or basketball shoes you cannot play in your “barefeet,” and no spiked shoes will be worn. 2. Play will be governed by three balls (walk) and two strikes (out) rule ... 3. The home - visitor will be determined by the flip of a coin. Winner of the toss of the coin gets the choice. The home team will play in the field first. 4. A team must have at least seven players present by starting time in order to play. Each team can play a maximum of 10 players (short-fielder). There will be a ten minute waiting period beyond staring time before a forfeit game is called. 5. Rained-out games will be called by either the Intramural Difector or the Field Supervisor, or both. If in doubt, check by the Intramural Office. Rained-out games will be arranged for play later. 6. A ten-run lead after 5 or 6 complate innings will terminate the game. Games are 7 innings. 7. The runner can not leave the base until the ball is hit. If he does, the result is “no pitch and the runner is out.” 8. Pitcher gets three warm-up pitches. The catcher will return the ball directly to the pitcher and not to second base. 9. After each out, the ball goes directly to the pitcher and is not passed around the infield. 10. A fly ball in flight that hits the wires or tree limbs is a dead ball, no pitch and runners will return to respective bases. 11. Runners can not leave bases until after the ball is hit or until ball passed home plate. If one does, runner is out and it is “no pitch.” 12. Passed balls over first and third base which go out of hits a spectator entitles base runners to one extra base. Out of play will be marked by a chalk line on the field. 13. No bunting or “chopping down” on a pitch ball will be allowed. Penalty for this violation is batter is out, runners cannot advance any base. 14. Playoffs: a. The team in each league will advance to playoffs-league winners will be determined by usual procedures. b. One at large team will be selected for championship. This will be the team with the best regular season record that does not end up numlier one in its respective league. All teams with best identical records will enter a drawing to select the at large team. c. Playoffs are single elimination, with the cham pionship game being the best 2 out of 3 games. d. Teams who forfeit 2 or more regular season games will not be allowed to participate in the playoffs.
