Great Chowan Water Fight of 1991
By Marty Grebing
It started out as a night like any other, but
ended in pandemonium. The night was warm
and stress was high—something had to be done.
A swarm of people from West Hall and Jen
kins got together for what could possibly have
been the ultimate tension breaker: an all-out, no
holes barred, high intensity water fight. This was
no ordinary water fight, by any means. Within 45
minutes, over 3 dozen eggs, 50 gallons of water,
and 300 water balloons were exhausted.
Both sides fought relentlessly until their mu
nitions were depleted, but it didn’t stop there.
After the balloons busted and the water spilled.
Squirrel Park (Campus Green) looked more like
Squirrel Lake.
The scene was set for a mud wrestling match.
Everyone found a brawling partner and locked
horns. The mud splattered and the bodies flew.
Just by himself, Rodney Tyler must have body-
slammed Ann Taylor at least 5 times. It was a
sight to see!
After the mud setded and a casualty report was
taken, it was clear that West had a decisive vic
tory. Better luck next time, Jenkins.
Here are many of the participants in the Great
Chowan Water Fight of 1991. My apologies to
those who are not mentioned:
Dan Lindsey, Sue Lattimer, Mike McKim,
Todd Dollar, Ann Taylor, Dan Schultz, Ron Le
onard, Gena Hughes, Carolann Drake, Rodney
Tyler, Debbie Meeks, Marty Grebing, Wendy
Yarborough, Krystyn Waldron, Tina Dawson,
and Charlie Caldwell.

Women’s football league?
Jenkins came
and conquered
During this year’s Springfest,
the two women’s domft, Belk and
Jenkins participated in a“friendly”
game of powderpuff football. This
was by far the biggest event of the
week. After two halves of play and
a few controversial plays, Jenkins L
took control. Nicole E)erkacz led
Jenkins with two touchdowns,
while Vanessa Bello and Amy
Wojtkowski added to the score with
one touchdown each. The final
score, Jenkins 28, Belk 0. Watch
out Jenkins, Belk wants a rematch!
P.S. Coach Meeks, you can rent a canoe anytime!
