In Memorium
A great man pajssed away.
A man who lived music and loved
every art.
A man who was revered and who will
long be remembered for his outstanding
contributions to music.
This man loved people, especially
the young people, and so he made them a
special school where they could study in
an atmosphere of " enthusiasm, sincerity,
and dedication" and evolve as both attists
and citizens.
This man worked for his school.
He worked for each student.
He encouraged each student.
He loved each student with an
endearing warmth.
Each owes him a great debt.
Dr. Vittorio Giannini lives through
his music. He lives in every facet of the
North Carolina School of the Arts, but
most importantly he lives within each
young person who has or will have the
opportunity to benefit from the
institution of which he was the father.
AROUND CAMPUS...
Johnny William^ was the winner of
the National Association of Teachers of
Singing Contest in the Advanced High
School Boys' division.
Johnny, a high school senior and a
second year student of Norman Farrow,
sang " Non piu andrai " from "The
Marriage of Figaro ” and "Die Stradt "
by Shubert.

Dance mjor, John Walker, exhibits
another talent as exemplified by his Ch
Christmas display in the showcase near
the cafeteria. The display consists of
wreaths, sprays, center peices, and corsages
which were all made by John. Orders for
these Christmas decorations may be placed
in Box 143 or given to John peEonally. All
orders should be placed immediately.
The reading of Michael Colina's
"Overture for Chamber Orchestra" has been
set for Sunday, December 11, in the Main
Auditorium at 8 p.m. A list of those who
should be present is posted on the Music
Bulletin Board.

MRS. YOKIBT ASSUMES POST
Mr. Kimzey, high school principal, is
happy to announce the new high school secre
tary, Mrs. Glean Yokley, is here. Last year's
students may know Mrs. Yokley because she
roomed with Scherer James, high school English
teacher at NCSA last year.
Mrs. Yokley is from Mount Airy and worked
with the insurance department of the Wachovia
Bank before coming to the School of the Arts.
