We were given a tour of the building, including a look at the most-wanted criminals' pictures at the Force's pool tables, and a brief explanation of the Winston-Salem po liceman's daily grind. At the meeting which followed, we were pleasantly surprised to find that the Force admires this school's students and activities and that the only complaint from the city have come from our friends, the truck drivers, across from us on Waughtown St. ("Kissin' in the bushes, of ficer!") Everything from the length of Lynn Bernhardt's hair, to racial conflicts in the city, to drug usage was discussed, we found the police men to be very open-minded, fond of youth, and lacking the usual local prejudices. One particularly charming gentleman, who has been on the Force for over twenty years, noted in closing that despite the differences in its expression, we have a mutual aim—to perform a valuable service to our communities. We left in a noisy, back-thum- ping, hand-pumping atmosphere of trust and friendship with admoni tions to call on any of them for help at any time. Tell them you're a friend of the Instruction Sargeant. Friday, March 28, has been de clared "No-fines day" by Mr. William D. Van Hoven, Librarian, at the School of the Arts. On this day all fines, no matter how large, will be cancelled on over-due materials re turned to the library. In addition, fines will be dropped if the materi als have already been turned in but the fines not yet paid. However, lost books, music, etc. must be paid for or replaced. To aid in the once-in-a-life- time opportunity, boxes will be plac ed in front of the library, at the practice rooms, and in the dorms for students to return materials. It is hoped that a portion of the large number of missing books, records, and music will be returned during the "one-day campaign."
