But, as responsible members of the world community, we are acutely aware of the importance of developing cultural movements. We trust that the success of the First American College Theatre Festival will stimulate others to participate and provide the opportuni ty for additional sources of experience in living theatre for thousands more talented young people in the future. The Dutchman. In his article, Mr. Cava- no used the term "censorship" rather loosely. Although the word has many meanings, one of them is not defin ing the age of the viewers of a play I should hope that the writers for the ESSAY would refrain from inflam matory expression of their biases at the expense of the English language. According to the World Book Encyclopedia Dic tionary, 1964 ed., a censor is one "who exercises supervision over the morals or behaviors of others...who examines books, plays, motion pic tures, news reports, etc..." I be lieve the term could be applied to the examination of a recent drama production by our president and su pervision of the behavior and morals of students by fixing an age re quirement for attendance. May I also add that the article was written by only one member of TO THE EDITORS OF THE ESSAY Congratulations to you for the editorial stand so well expressed in Lynn Bernhardt's excellent editorial in the last issue. I have heard many people say that the Essay this year has shown a decided improvement in content, and I agree. I do not always agree with some of the ideas expressed by the writers, but that is as it should be in an open forum o f opinions. I was particularly pleased to note that no more unsign ed letters will be accepted for pub lications, because it would be dis tressing to see the paper used as a vehicle for anonymous name-calling. The whole staff of the Essay, and its able advisor, Mr. Fragola, should share the credit for the improved quality of this year's paper. William D. VanHoven our staff and the "writers of the Essay" do not attempt to express their biases at the expense of the English language. THE EDITOR CALENDAR April 14 - 7:00 P.M.— Student Re- (Monday) cital.
