L'histoire du soldat (The Sotd-
iev's Tale)3 by Igor Stravinsky, has
been scheduled to be performed by
students from NCSA this coming March
11. L'histoire du soldat (to be
read, played and danced) will be di
rected by Job Sanders from the De
partment of Dance. The production
will feature students from the De
partments of Dance, Music and Drama.
Rick McCullough will dance, and act
the part of the soldier. Sam Barce
lona will handle the lengthy and diff
icult role of the Narrator, which
also includes being a prop man and
scenery arranger. Svea Ecklof will
dance the role of the Princess. Odd
ly enough, Miss Eklof has only one
line in the entire show. David Wood
will act and dance the part of the
Devil, which necessitates him appear
ing as a butterfly catcher, a woman,
and a virtuoso violinist, as well.
The musicians have not been named at
this time, but the instruments needed
are: violin, clarinet, bassoon,
trumpet, trombone, double-bass and per
cussion. This will be Mr. Sanders'
first attempt at directing a produc
tion with spoken dialogue. As of
now, L’histoire du soldat is sche
duled to be performed in the school's
auditorium. L’histoire du soldat was
first presented in September of 1918
(fifty-two years ago).
