Blood Shortage Critical
by Chris Laning
The blood supply of Cumberland
County has been low for the last few
months. Now with the outbreak of war
in the Middle East, the blood supply may
soon become critical. A representative
from Blood Assurance Plan of Cumber
land County, the organization responsi
ble for the blood supply, said recently
that they are doing everything they can
to increase it. But they desperately need
our help.
For the last few years. Lambda Chi
Alpha has sponsored blood drives here at
Methodist twice a semester. In the past.
Share The Warmth Day
Great Success
The Student Affairs Office at Metho
dist College sponsored the Second Annu
al Share the Warmth Day on Saturday,
Dec. 1,1990.
The project, the result of a desire to
help those who are less fortunate, arose
after some of the staff of the Student Af
fairs Office went to the Walk on Wash
ington for the Homeless. The initial pro
ject last year had about 35 participants.
Due to the project's success, plans
have been made to make it a yearly en
deavor. The Student Affairs staff and
other members of the college communi
ty, working in conjunction with Fayette
ville's Urban Ministry, aided needy fami
lies in the area by cutting and delivering
firewood.
Share the Warmth Day was a even
greater success this year than last year.
This was due in part to the college com
munity’s awareness of the event and its
desire to help others as the holidays were
approaching. Approximately 75 people
showed up to lend a helping hand. Mem
bers of the Student Affairs staff are look
ing forward to next year and invite you
to come and join them.

European
Vacation
Available
To Students
by Colleen Witt
Jennifer Moody, a French and German
instructor here at Methodist, is offering
an exciting opportunity for students to
travel to Europe at a reasonable price.
Ms. Moody said she is hoping to re
cruit a number of students, but ideally
she would prefer to travel with 6 or 7.
The students would buy tour packages
through American Educational Travel.
This travel company provides the stu
dents with travel options at reasonable
prices. A group interested in taking a trip
to Europe can choose a particular travel
package or tailor their own. The time
and length of the U’ip will be up to the
students.
The cost of a 8- or 9-day trip ranges
from $1039.00 to $1399.00, depending
on the time of year. All transportation
costs, hotel costs, and at least two meals
per day are included in the price. A full
time guide who is fluent in the languages
of the countries toured will be provided.
"A trip to Europe can give you a won
derful taste of what is out there," Ms.
Moody said. Any student interested at
all in this travel opportunity can contact
Ms. Moody at her office, T-116, exL 326
or may call her at her home, 822-8606.
participation has been good, averaging
45 pints each time. However, this year
has been very disappointing. In the Sep.
drive, only 22 pints were collected, and
34 in November.
We have assured Blood Assurance
Plan that the students of Methodist will
pitch in during this time of need. We are
shooting for a goal of 60 pints.
If you have never given blood before,
now is a better time than ever to give.
Please, this small sacrifice on your part
may mean a lifetime to someone else.
The next drive is Feb. 13 from 9:30
a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Student Union.
Please come out and give.
