Everybody
Sucks
by Christopher Laning
Yes it's true! For the last few weeks
the Methodist College faculty, staff and

pops for fifty cents each. The lollipops
come in a variety of shapes and a multi
tude of flavors.
Just how many flavors? While Small
Talk is not exactly sure, it has been re
marked tliat you could easily buy over a
dozen of them without having the same
flavor twice. Flavors that have already
been sold include: Banana Cream, Bub
ble Gum, Cherry Cheesecake, Cinnamon,
Cotton Candy, Fruit Punch, Marshmal
low, Pina Colada, Strawberry Cream,
Strawberry Daiquiri, Tangerine Cream,
Tuitti Fruitti, and Watermelon.
The lollipops are being sold to raise
money for Omicron Delta Kappa. The
money will go toward the general funds
of the group which will be used for vari
ous group projects including the purchas
ing of honor cords for the circle's seven
graduating seniors.

being sold and you are interested in buy

CAC Lab to Receive
New Computers
by Diana fVessley
The English and Communications De
partment met on Wednesday, April 8,
1992, to discuss the current situation with
the CAC Lab. According to President
Hendricks, the CAC Lab computers are
about six years old and cannot support
the newer versions of the word process
ing programs used by many classes. Sev
eral computers are currently in need of
repair, and newer versions of software
are needed.
Six new IBM compatible computers
have been ordered and should be in place
before the end of the Spring '92 semester.
Fourteen more computers should be in
place before the beginning of the Fall '92
semester.
These new computers are IBM com
patible 386 processors with 44 megabyte
hard drives. These computers accept ei
ther 5-1/4" or 3-1/2" disks. The monitors
support VGA graphics. This capability is
badly needed for many courses such as
Business Writing.
Methodist has also purchased an on
site license to use Word Perfect software
on all tlie computers. This software pro
gram is preferred by most businesses to
day.
Dr. DeLapa, Nona Fisher, Caroline Kearns, and l^igh Rector enjoy the ODK suckers.
ODK Invades Atlanta
by Christopher Laning
Six members of the Methodist Col
lege Circle of Omicron Delta Kappa
rolled into Atlanta on March 20th to at
tend the National 37th Biennial Conven
tion. Representatives from over 110 dif
ferent colleges and universities scattered
throughout the country attended this
event held every two years.
Omicron Delta Kappa members use
the national convention to exchange in
formation and ideas on running their lo
cal circles and on ways to improve activ
ities. In addition, members discuss the
policies of the organization and hold
elections for national officers.
Methodist College was well repre
sented and had more representatives
than any other school in Province n.
Province II is composed of 25 ODK cir
cles at colleges and universities in Vir
ginia, North Carolina, and parts of West
Virginia. Schools such as Wake Forest,
James Madison, and UNC-Charlotte are
in this province and were represented at
the convention.
The Methodist College contingent
consisted of two faculty/staff members,
two ODK members, and two recendy
tapped ODK initiates. Nona Fisher, the
ODK Faculty Secretary, spearheaded the
group, along with R. Parker Wilson, the
ODK Faculty Advisor. Traci Wilson, the
Circle's president, served as the school's
official delegate to the convention, and
Christopher Laning, the vice president,
served as the alternate delegate. Caro
line Kearns and Kimberly Ratliff, two of
the 6 students tapped to be initiated into
ODK, also attended.
The weekend consisted of four gener
al Plenary sessions of the organization
and two meetings of the individual Prov
inces. In addition, interest sessions were
held on various topics.
Awards were also given out during
the convention and Methodist received a
certificate honoring the 10th anniversary
of the circle. Traci Wilson accepted it on
behalf of tlie circle during a general Ple
nary session.
While in Atlanta, members of the or
ganization did a little sightseeing and vis
ited the famous Atlanta Underground, a
large underground complex of shops and
restaurants laden with history. Some of
the members went to the top of a hotel
which bills itself as the largest hotel in
the world.
During the course of the weekend the
members got to meet students from many
colleges and universities and formed
many friendships.
