Men's Soccer Wins
South Region
The Methodist men's soccer team ex
ploded with a shut-out victory perfor
mance Saturday, Nov. 7 and Sunday,
Nov. 8 to win its first tide as South Re
gion Champions. "We took an early lead
which unsettled Greensboro College,"
said coach Alan Dawson. Stefan Stefan-
son scored the first goal of the game and
Jason Butler scored the second to give
Methodist a good lead going into the sec
ond half. During the second half Metho
dist played strong defense. "We locked it
up defensively and were fortunate
enough to score another goal by Stefan-
son to get a final score of 3-0," said Daw
son.
Coach Dawson was very pleased
with the performance of the team during
Sunday's game against Bethany College.
Stefanson scored an early goal in the first
half. According to Dawson, scoring ear
ly was part of the game plan. Methodist
held on to a 1-0 lead going into the sec
ond half. During the second half, Chris
Shaw scored. The final score was 2-0.
The dedication and determination of
the team is evidenced in its success, and
when speaking of the success of the
Methodist men's soccer team, one must
also credit the dedicated fans, who have
given outstanding support to the team
throughout the season.

President Hendricks Signs Love Feast
Exchange Agreements
The major points of the agreement
are the following: Tuition and fees for
the semester will be charged by the
"home" institution. Housing and meals
are to be arranged by the host institution.
Exchange students will be responsible
for transportation from their country to
the host institution and for the return trip
home. Exchange students will also be
responsible for their personal expenses.
Students are expected to purchase health
insurance through the host institution or
provide documentation of health insu
rance coverage.
There are already two Methodist
College students, Alisdair MacDonald
and Jose D. Herrera, who are interested
in participating in the exchange program
during the spring semester. During an
interview. Dr. Guzman said that all inter
ested Methodist College students are en
couraged to participate in the program.
"To have the courage to study in a for
eign language is a challenge," Guzman
said. If someone is interested in partici
pating in the exchange program, he or
she should contact the student exchange

After several months of negotiations
between Madero 'University in Puebla,
Mexico and Methodist College, Presi
dent Dr. Elton, Hendricks signed a stu
dent exchange agreement on April 28,
1992. The agreement is designed to al
low foreign students to enroll for one se
mester in regular classes at the host insti
tution. Moreover, smdents would be able
to learn and experience the culture, histo
ry, and literature of another country. Dr.
Amal Guzman, associate Spanish profes
sor at Methodist College, was i^pointed
coordinator for this program. As coordi
nator, he will be the faculty liaison for
students.
Methodist College Foundation
Leaders Honored
Methodist College honored Dick Player, chairman of the 1992 Annual Fund Drive, and other officers of the
Methodist College Foundation during an appreciation dinner October 26 at the Radisson/Prince Charles Hotel.
Mr. Player announced that the foundation had surpassed its 1992 goal of $175,000 by 6 percent and almost
doubled the number of contributors from 1991. The aimual fund drive is the means by which the foundation
renews its original pledge to raise funds for the college in Fayetteville and Cumberland County.
Vice President for Development Bev Pankey presented a certificate of appreciation to Mr. Player for his
outstanding service as aimual fund chairman. He also recognized and thanked the foundation’s outgoing
directors..
Dr. Elton Hendricks, college president, expressed thanks to the foundation board, saying “without the hard work
and dedication of its members, Methodist College might not exist today.” He said the college will continue to
strive for excellence in all that it does.
Dr. Hendricks installed the following new officers and directors of the foundation: Jim Kizer, President; Jean
Hodges, vice president; C.T. Daniels, secretary; and Mike Pleasant, treasurer. Incoming members of the board
of directors are: Charlie Harrell, John Holmes, Brad Hurley, Crawford McKeithan, Mitchell Nance, Anne Raper,
Craig Stewart, Wilson Yarborough, Dr. Julia Prewitt, Neal Griffin, and Charlie Speegle.
Dr. Stan Griffin, outgoing president of the Methodist College Foundation, presented the gavel to Jim Exum, the
incoming president. Mr. Kizer then introduced Bob Exum, who will serve as chairman of the 1993 Annual Fund
Drive.
To Be Held
Methodist College will celebrate
Christmas with two Moravian Love
Feasts Sunday, Dec. 13 in Hensdale
Chapel. The public is invited to
attend either the 6 p.m. or the 8:15
p.m. service.
The traditional Moravian Love
Feast celebrates the birth of Christ
through scriptiu'e reading and
prayer, the singing of hymns, the
lighting of candles, and the serving
of Moravian bread and coffee. The
Love Feast has been an annual
tradition at Methodist since 1974.
The Rev. Carrie Parrish, campus
minister at Methodist College, will
serve as worship leader. Tammy
Hightower Edens of Mebane will be
the guest soloist.
Admission to each Love Feast is
by ticket only. Tickets are free upon
request. Persons desiring tickets
should send a stamped, self-ad
dressed envelope to the Rev. Carrie
Parrish, Campus Minister, Method
ist College, 5400 Ramsey Street,
Fayetteville, NC 28311 by Dec. 8,
specifying which service—6 p.m. or
8:15 p.m.—^they wish to attend.
Thanksgiving
Services
Methodist College will hold a special
Thanksgiving Service Monday, Novem
ber 23 at 7 p.m. in Hensdale Chapel.
The public is invited.
Rev. Carrie Parrish, campus minister

the Methodist College
Chorus will sing several selections.
