Monarch ffle/zenqer Orientation Orientation Issue 2000 Student-Athlete Advisory Committee Mentoring Program S.A.M. Coming this Fall! By Lee Glenn Sports Information Director Methodist College has a very ac tive Student-Athlete Advisory Commit tee on campus. This group serves as a liaison between the athletics and admin istration at Methodist College. The group also performs many volunteer activities within the greater Fayetteville commu nity. Reading programs at elementary schools, volunteer work at public health clinics, and field day activities for school children are a few things our student-ath- letes are involved in with helping others. The S.A.M. component to be added in the Fall of 2000 is the Student-Athlete Mentor program. Each of our teams will have two SAM’s as recommended by their coach and trained by the athletic director. These individuals will serve their respective teams by helping their teammates when problems or concerns Photo hy Jami Sheppard Just ask Jim Cravton or Michael Brown, who are involved in many activities on campus, about the opportunities to advance at Methodist. arise. Any individual problem can be ad dressed by the SAM and then referred to student services as needed to help our stu- dent-athletes in times of need. If you are interested in the Student- Athlete Advisory Committee, please talk with your coach or see Bob McEvoy, di rector of athletics for further details.
