Who has been Drinking
the Campus Dry?
In an effort to raise awareness concerning the existence of on-campus
drinidng, the small TALK hit the streets to get some answers. Phone numbers
were dialed at random, and questions were asked pertaining to age, gender,
class grade, and if the individual partakes in on campus drinking. While there
are facts and figures about who has been busted and who has been warned,
the truth of the matter is that, until now, no one really knows who drinks on
campus.

April 3-7 changed the lives
of the Monarch Cheerleaders as
they traveled to Florida to com
pete at Nationals. On Thursday
the team took the floor to com
pete in preliminaries, placing only
7"'. This is the last possible place
the team could have finished to
ensure a shot at finals. With
adrenaline rushing through their
bodies and the crowd cheering in
their ears they took the stage and
performed the 2 minute and 15
second routine almost flawless
during finals. Winning them 4"’
place. Saturday the team had a
free day, while many of them
spent time at Universal Studios
others participated in a “Stunt
Fest” on the beach.

when the team first came together
said Coach Rickey Hill. 13 of the
24 members on this year’s team
were freshmen. Only 20 com
peted at Nationals, 6 more
pressure due to the amount of
injuries on the team. Ross also
added that being a member of the
cheer program has kept him at
MC, and is the sole reason why
he stayed here.
Dylan Reed, freshman,
said It’s fun to be a part of this
team, enjoyable, and more chal
lenging. Reed also added that
being a male cheerTeader in
college allows you to be an
athlete without having to defend
your sexuality as he did in high
school.
