Though the girls lost both matches, stand out players include Julia Peeple with 7 kills, 9 digs, Jennifer Ellis with 7 kills, and Kate Pevler with 17 digs against Washing ton & Lee. Against Roanoke Ellis had 10 kills and Pevler 18 assists. In her first game in a month due to a leg injury. Megan Friend had 6 assist in the third game. Mens Soccer The men’s soccer team pulled off a 1 -0 win against Villa Jul ie at the Fayetteville Soccer Complex Sunday. Matt Holmes, senior midfielder scored for the third time in three straight games. Holmes produced the game's only goal late in the first half due to a penalty kick. Womens Soccer The Lady Monarchs ended strong with a 5-0 victory over Pied mont on Saturday. Lesley Oyen scored the first half only goal and photo by Ashley Copeland followed up the second half with a hat trick. Monica Gerth contributed a goal in the 6P' minute and Keri Lasalla followed her lead in the 84"’ minute. This marks the third shut out in a row for the womens soccer team. Cross Country Both the men’s and women’s Cross Country teams ran to victory against Fayetteville State last Thurs day in the Clayton-Sykes Invitational on the grounds of the Methodist College Golf Course. Terrance Moore, the individual winner in the men’s race, finished at 31:09 while Tara Prewitt and Lisa Saunders finished first and second with a time of 20:24 and 20:56, respectively. Football Monarch Stadium was the place to be Saturday as the Monarchs took on the Wasps of Emory & Henry.
