Get connected on campus
Student Clubs and Organizations has something for everyone
LAURA PHILLIPS
Staff Writer
Have a desire to broaden your
interests and take a step outside the
classroom? If so, get connected with
Methodist College’s student clubs
and organizations. At Methodist
College there are over 60 clubs and
organizations that students can take
advantage of.
There’s special interest clubs
such as Novelties and The Lector
where students embrace literature
and the arts. For the adventurous
risk taker, the Outdoor Adventure
club may be for you. This organiza
tion goes on hiking, kayaking and
white water rafting trips. Students
in search of spiritual growth can
attend organizations sponsored by
campus ministries siich as FCA,
and Deeper Life Ministries. There is
a chapel service on Wednesdays at
11a.m. and a contemporary service
on Thursday nights at 7:17.
Guided by an advisor, clubs
are open to all students who wish to
join Honary clubs such as Beta Beta
Beta and Delta Mu Delta are offered
for those students who have high
i
academic achievement and who are
irlthe high percentile of their class.
These clubs allow the students to
ftirther their academic success and
fijrther their leadership skills.
If the academic challenge
of certain clubs, is not your thing
it’s possible to still have fun. Here
at Methodist College, students have
the freedom of organizing their own
club or organization. So if there have
ever been thoughts of starting a
magazine, pool league or book club,
go for it! Student run clubs such as
the Libertarian club and Methodist
College’s first paintball team have
already been approved
Keep in mind, as with most
things in life, there are a few stan
dards that need to be met in order to
start a club. Each club or organiza
tion formed with advisor must have
at least 10 members and a written
constitution that is compatible with
the college mission.
The school does not fiind stu
dent clubs and organizations but

the school does allow students to
publicize events and use campus
facilities. If students wish to form
their own club they should contact
the Vice President for Development
and Services or check out the college
website for phone number listings.
So there is most definitely
something for everyone to get in
volved in and connected to on cam
pus, just look for it. iln exchange,
