DELTA’S IMPACT
m
BY A LOUISE DAUGHTER
Delta Sigma Theta was founded at
Howard University in 1913. The
organization was incorporated in
1930. Delta Sigma Theta is a public
service organization dedicated to a
program of sharing membership and
organizational services in the public
interest.
Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc.
strives for academic excellence and
cultural enrichment, as well as, a
concern for social welfare through
its public service activities.
In March, 1980, the 31 sorors of
^ Gamma Rho Chapter erected a
monument to represent the strength
of our 22 founders and the ideals of
our illustrious sisterhood. The eter
nal light enclosed within the struc
ture glows from dusk to dawn to
reflect the magnitude of the develop
ment within our sorority.
Currently there are 17 sorors in
Gamma Rho Chaptef'all commited
to the ideals of Delta. They look for
ward to serving Saint Augustine’s
during the coming school years, and
they also look forward to meeting
more of their female students at
their Spring Rush on February 22,
1981.

basis for her years of services to St.
Augustine’s. An initial check of
$500 was presented to Dr. Preifll R.
Robinson, president of the college.
In September of 1980, the govern

public school libraran and Mr.
Everett Days, head librarian at St.
Augustine’s decided to purchase the

The contributions of Gamma Rho
Chapter to the Margaret Bugg
Memorial Fund are augmented by
their sponsoring the Annual Red and
White Affair. This is a social event
held during the month of February
which provides for the student body
an evening of elegant enjoyment,
while allowing them to invest in their
education.
The Third Annaul Red and White

February 6, 1981, and they an
