Music World
By Jeff Kenney
The music world has had its
share of great hits. As we enter
the fall season let’s see what the
hottest hits are to date.
SHALAMAR has perhaps the
hottest crossover tune (records
that hit big on the soul as well as
the pop charts). DEAD
GIVEAWAY - the rock oriented
tune is from the album THE
LOOK. Shalamar is in the midst
of a DEAD GIVEAWAY PROMO
TION. By entering the contest,
the winners, picked by special
drawings, are invited to go to a
participating record shop and
pick up as many records, album,
tapes and accesories within nine
ty seconds.
EDDY GRANT is now a part of
an elite group for the 1983 year.
Grant’s single ELECTRIC
AVENUE recently sold its one
millionth copy. Other artists with
million sellers recently include
IRENE CARA with FLASH
DANCE, WHAT A FEEL
ING, MTUME for the smash hit
JUICY FRUIT and MICHAEL
JACKSON for the tune BEAT IT.
A couple of smash pop hits have
crossed over onto the soul chart.
THE HUMAN LEAGUE’S
(KEEP FEELING) FASCINA
TION is hot in the disco’s as well
as the airwaves of radio. There is
an instrumental mix of the tune
as well as the single on the LP
FACINATION.
BOY GEORGE and the
CULTURE CLUB are by no
means tumbling. There latest
smash hit I’LL TUMBLE 4 YA is
rising by leaps and bounds. The
funky beat makes the tune great
for dancing.

beautiful uptempo tune on his
first solo project CONTINUA

Don’t panic, Bailey has no inten

Bailey, “We’ve built something

album is produced by GEORGE

most of his spare time to Chris
