This spring Wesleyan College will have-an intercollegiate base ball team, a team with unifor:-.'s, equipment and spirit, yet a texm still v/ithout a name, /fter the tec^ms are named, names for the publications, classgs, and dorms csn be chosen to tie in with that name. Often the names for-teams comc from the location of the school, profession of the namesake, or hobby of the namesake among other things. Wesleyan College is lo cated in tobacco country, and is named for John and Charles Wesley who were instrumental in founding the Methodist Church. Do these ideas suggest any names? Suggestions for the nickname of the college and corresponding names for the others may be turn ed into the Publications Room in the box provided so that the team will have a name by its first game, March 13. Gary Garlow was chosen to serve as Chairman, Dr. Willard Gatewood, Vice-Chairman, and Susan Black, Secretary. The Council also chose Monday at 12 o'clock for its regular meeting. The Community Council idea which is new to colleges, is based upon confidence and trust and it will try to est-blish the ’’Wesleys an Community through fidelity . service, and integrity." As a group independent of the Student Government /ssociation and com posed of representatives from the student body, faculty, and staff, the Council has power to counsel and investigate any area of the Wesleyan Community. Although it has no pov/er to enforce them, it is hoped its recommendations will be heeded. Anyone v/ho would like to pre sent a matter before the Council should first see Gary Garlow, A matter presented to the Council will be kept in confidential fiJes, and reports and recommendations will be given only upon approval of the Council. The Community Council program does not list those things v/hich must not be done. It presents a Bill of Rights to the Community with expectations of and for the members of the Community.
