Page 4 2 Suggestions For Newspaper Name Are Voted Down Two suggestion for the name of | the Student Newspaper were voted ’ down by the students in Assembly yesterday. They were WESLEYAN DECRE- j TAL, and the WESLEYAN CAL- ■ LEGE. 1 According to the Publications ' Commission, DECRETAL means a | statement of the pope concerning | affairs of the church and things that have happened in the kingdom. The Callage means a picture made from pieces of paper of words. The Circuit Rider, name of the student newspaper last year, was not voted on by the student body or brought before the Student Coun cil for consideration or approval. Therefore, many comments of disavor were made by Wesleyan Students. It was discovered that this name was used as the name for many college newspapers and especially Seminary papers. Even though the Circuit Rider is considerd appropriate by many stu dents, other suggestions have been given. 'Ihe decision of naming the paper officially was then turned over to the Cabinet, but with no definite response. Therefore, at the end of last year there was no offi cial name for the newspaper, ac cording to Vann Massey, President of the SGA. In order to secure a permanent name for the newspaper this year, the issue was turned over to publi cations chairman. Bill Hoyle. Sug gestions for names were submitted by students to Bill, for committee review. Two were selected and were to be presented to the Stu dent Body for a vote. The student body voted against the names suggested by the publi cations committee, making it nec essary to have more names sug gested.
