4 the WESLEYAN DECREE Wednesday, Sept. 18, 1963 on, HOW THOSE PLACEMENT TESTS HURT! THE LUAU, and David Reeves referees a wrestling match. New Term As the dormitory doors open ed Tuesday, September 10, the excitement of Freshman Orien tation bt'gan. In the evening, a reception sixjnsored by the Student Gov ernment Association was given for all new students in the lounges of Nash Hall. A brief welcome was given by Uic chairman of the Student Orien tation Committee, Dennis Stock- dale, and the Director of Stu dent Life, Dr. Allen Cordts. The following day was one of welcoming addresses, the offici al beginning of orientation and placements tests. The master of ccremonies was the Director of Admissions, Ronald Sherron, while welcoming addresses were made by President Collins and John Hines, president of the student Government Association. Following the placement tests, a reception was given by the Rocky Mount Junior Guild. A picnic dinner was served behind the Student Union for all resi dent students. On Thui-sday, Sept 12, the highlight of Orientation began with an “aloha” as the new stu dents were presented with a Hawaiian Luau. TOUR—New students learn their way about Rocky Mount through a tour sponsored by the orientation committee.
