North Hall Expected To Be Ready Soon It is rather an understate ment to say that Wetsleyan is rapidly growing. Two of the most obvious evidences of Wes- leyan’s structural growth are tl e new dorms. Wesleyan’s dorms have come quite far in a ishort time. Dur ing its first year, the women’s dorm was a converted resi dence termed Fenner Dorm. Last year Nash and Edge combe dorms were sentinels for the “outer limits” of the campuis, being at opposite ends of the constructed area. This year work is being com pleted on two dorms, one soon to be occupied. South dorm, the new men’s dorm is com plete, with the exception of landscaping. This liouses upper- class men. There is at present space for 16 more occupants, though this will probably soon be filled. Edgecombe dorm is almost full, housing Freshmen men. North dorm, the new wo men’s dorm wiU probably be completed by mid-October. This is the estimate of the possible completion date. Climatic con ditions have already delayed construction, and it is im possible to teU if future un controllable situations wiU arise. Nash dorm, tlie older wo men’s dorm, now houises both upper and lower classmen. The Freshmen are assigned to the first and second floors, with five students in the study lounge. The third floor is occu pied by upper classmen, vwth five students in the third floor study lounge. Twenty students are temporarily housed in the Infirmary. These will be trans- fered to North Hall when it is completed. Mr. Smith stated that he was very grateful for all the won derful co-operation that stu dents had given to him and aU those who are involved in attempting to make students as comfortable as posisible under the crowded conditions. Dr. Ck)rdts in a notice of tem porary room assignment to upper classmen stated that the room assignments were only temporary until the new dorm is ready for occupancy. At a later date, the students will be given an opportunity to ex press a preference for type of accommodation and roommate before assignments are made to the new dormitory.
