Directed by Freddie Francis.) The ‘House of Hammer’ has produced a good, hon est horror film in “Dra cula Has Risen From The Grave.” The acting is un iformly good, the photo graphy is adequate, and the directing is apt, if uninspired. There are some stricking mo ments — Dracula appear ing in the heroine's door way just as the sun is setting the background, Dracula’s “death” —but they were too few, consid ering the material Mr. Francis had to work with. What could have been an excellent film (of the hor ror genre) is merely a good film. In 1959 Hammer made “Horror of Dracula” with Christopher Lee and Pe ter Cushing. Students do not need more free dom and are not mature unless they can accept full responsibility for their conduct and actions. One characteristic of this maturity is to have the courage to condemn dis honesty. Students at Wes leyan have never been hesitant to condemn dis honesty as they have seen it in the administration of the college. Is it possible that they are not able to condemn dishonestry in their own midst.? If your articles are correct, our student body wants all privileges and no responsibility. It wants to have its cake and eat it too. It chooses to tol erate and live with drunks, thieves, and cheats, rather than to speak out against them. If your articles are correct, the Wesleyan student body and the Of fice of the Dean of Stu dents are on a collision course. Refusing a speci fic type of honor system Is one thing. But refusing it because it requires one to condemn dishonesty in another is to admit alack of honor in oneself. Have our students become so involved in doing their own thing that they have lost the ability to make any distinctions between right and wrong? Sincerely, Sim O. It was because we remembered the heights achieved by this earlier film that we were somewhat disappointed with “Dracula Has Risen From The Grave.” We al so missed the presence of Peter Cushing, who gave an excellent por trayal of Dr. Van Hel- sing (Dracula’s nemesis) in the earlier film. The character of Van Helsing is absent in the present “Dracula,” but we are given a comparable hero in the Monsignor of Car- beth. Rupert Davies is marvelous as the portly, knowledgeable Knight of the Church and nearly steals the show.
