THE ROSE OF NU GAMMA PHI As I sat alone with my dreams, A wonderful land I could see; And a vision so bright, came to me through the night, With my dream girl I seemed to be. Oh, her eyes are the stars of heaven That shine as the lamp so bright; Her lips are the rose petals Which open their folds to the light; Her hair is the gold of sunset. As it fades in the western sky; No flower that grows is like the rose. She’s the flower of Nu Gamma Phi. News Summary (Continued from Page 1) being the minimum age for its use. Commenting upon evidence that constant use of marijuana over a period of twenty years can cause brain deterioration; she stated, “You can show the same thing if you do nothing but eat for twenty years.” No American deaths were re ported from Viet Nam for a twenty four period last week. This was the first such period that has occurred since the Viet Nam buildup began in 1965, According to the latest Har ris Poll released last Monday, 70% of the American Public ap proved President Nixon’s lat est troop withdrawal of 35,000 troops from Viet Nam. Yet, Wesleyan does just that. Wes leyan, does just just that. Wes leyan, in effect, states that it does not feel its female mem bers are qualified to make any rational decisions about their own conduct. If I were living under such conditions, I would protest. Be ing a male member, I am not affected negatively by the rules and can afford to be apathe tic about the who'e thing. You ask “How am 1 able to protest?” Several ways would be: 1) No dating unlessTlie ma les join the females cause, 2) by placing several hundred cas es in front of the student court simultaneously, (I mean 100%) 3) Institute negative decisions by dorm counsels, 4) forming a lobby to both the administra tion and the SGA, 5) Banning together as did the females in order to get the right to vote, 6) ' Voicing your opinions, and 7) Becoming active in the issue. To name just a few. If you are happy living under a system which in effect de clares females inferior to males in making decisions about their own lives--FINE!!! If, however, you are not, -- then commit yourself fully. Basically I feel girls are great, especially since I have not found an adequate substi tute. But unless you act, you will stay under this type of sys tem the rest of your lives. It is your struggle. I belong to the priviledged half, but al- so to the concerned, sympathic half. Glenn A.
