PAGE 4 THE DECREE APRIL 1, 1972 LARRY FOSTER Larry Foster Is Bishop Of Week Larry Foster, a junior mem ber of the Wesleyan Track Team was named “Bishop of the Week” in last weeks poll by the DECREE. In the tri-match among Saint Andrews, Greensboro College, and Wesleyan, Larry took two firsts to lead for the Bishops, He placed well ahead of his closest competitors finishing the mile in 4:58 and the three mile run in 18:00 flat. Larry who measures 5’10” andweighs 160 pounds, was praised by the DECREE staff; “Larry is afine runner, whose determination and endurance won’t allow him to give up.” Larry is the son of Mr, and Mrs. Garland Foster of Oak City, North Carolina. Speed And Strength Surprising!!! NCWC Runs Away With Track The North Carolina Wesley an Track Team, coached by A1 Horne and assisted by Ben Gregory, proved to be a big surprise last week when they demolished Greensboro College and almost upset St. Andrews. The Bishops, making their track debut, took nine of the possible 17 first places. The Bishops lost the match to Saint Andrews in fourth places where they were simply outmaned. As for Greensboro there was just no hope. Wesleyan outdid them in every possible way. The Bishops now stand 1-1 in conference play. They will host Greensboro College and Metho dist College at Northern Nash High School on date to be an nounced later. Alpha Deka Oii Wins Over Phi Alpha Delta Chi ran away with an easy 5-1 victory over intra-campus rival Nu Gam ma Phi in the first annual Soccer match between the two fraternities. The Chi’s avenged two loss es in basketball earlier this year. The first quarter of ac tion proved to be very physical with a lot of mistakes. It took the full 18 minutes of the quar ter for both teams to settle down. The second quarter Chi exploded for 3 straight points. Martin Saunders booted the first one in and was soon fol lowed by Charlie Read. It was then that Martin turned in his second point to make the score 3-0. Ron Drumheller made the assists on the last two shots. The third quarter was full action as penalties began to mount on both sides. One of these resulted in a goal. An indirect free kick was given to the Chi’s just outside the penalty area. Ed Rand took the shot and booted it directly into the goal through the protective wall. This was also the quar ter that Phi made their only goaL Burke Suter burnt the ball in from about 20 yards out and made a perfect shot off of the goal post. The quarter ended with the score 4-1 ADX, The final quarter went slow ly with the “Green and Gold” scoring one more goal by Charlie Read, Campus Crusade Show Tonight The College Life Campus Crusade for Christ will have its first annual talent show, Thurs day, March 30, 1972 at 7:30 p.m. in Garber Chapel. There will be plenty of talent and free prizes given away.
