THE DECREE WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 31, 1973 v?rnni. onferal^^^^or- ward Greg O’Steen dominating the offensive boards and rack ing up 24 points, the Greens boro College Hornets routed a confused and inexperienced We sleyan squad 63 to 53, It look ed bad for the Bishops right from the start as they were pla gued by many turnovers and a considerable lack of patience on offense. The turnovers were largely the result of Greens boro’s full count man to man press while the lack of patience was due to inexperience. The first half score was 40-29, Greensboro, and it was obvious that the Bishops were in for a tough second half. It looked as if Wesleyan mi ght make a game of it as Mike Shannon brought the Bis hops to within five points of the lead. Unfortunately for the Bis hops, Greensboro continued to be effective from inside the Spring Fling (Continued from Page 1) tion, and Black and Blue (no longer in existance) compiled the most votes as bands desir ed on campus. “The questionnaire helped us to be sure,” said Hardison, “but at the same time the questionnaire made us stop and think. The people who want the week end to remain didn’t go, and they want nothing in the cafeteria. We don’t have that kind of money to book a hall for the entire weekend.” Har dison said the Social Commis sion does not feel obligated by the results of the question naire but instead will use the figures to best entertain the replying students with money remaining in the budget. At press time plans had been made concerning the weekend but Social Commission repre sentatives declined comment on the format or choice of enter tainment. Tame NCWC key with short jumpers and lay ups, and they uped the margin to eleven points with a little more than ten minutes to go in the game. O'Steen managed to collect his usual garbage and this accounted for eight of his game high 24 points. With four minutes to go Gre ensboro installed its stall of fense. As Wesleyan players ran from corner to corner in an effort to get the ball back it was frustrating watching this hap pen. Regardless, it was a sloppy game and neither team played well. The turn-overs and re bounds were about even for both teams, however, the Bis hops shot a miserable 57,8%, Mike Shannon led Wesleyan’s Scorers with 13 points follow ed by Neal Chambers wiO> 11- bounded Saint Andrews 46 to 33, they had more turnovers and shot a dreadful 28% from the floor. St. Andrews in turn shot a mere 38%, but this was partly due to their coach’s demand that his players on the bench were to wear gloves to keep their shoot ing hands warm. A1 Bonds led the Knight’s scoring with 15 points while Wesleyan was led by another steady performance from Neal Chambers with 11 points. Cha mbers, a sophomore, has been a standout in the past two home games while Willie Mitchell continues to perform admira bly. I urge the student body to attend the remainder of the Bis hops home games in a positive effort to revive the Wesleyan Cagers. I’ve always found a large crowd makes one perform better.
