MONDAY, OCTOBER 22, 1973 THE DECREE PAGES In the three years that I have been writing this column I don’t think I have ever used the space for a real editorial-type message. Well. . . maybe once. At any rate I’m going to not exactly editorialize but I am going to lay an idea on you all. It’s mainly to all you frat and sorority presidents and to all you club heads. And if anyone out there likes the idea and isn’t an official of anything find an official and tell them you like the idea. So what is the idea, I guess you are saying. Well, first a little background. Homecoming is not too far away—it’s the first weekend in December—and perhaps some changes need to be made in it this year. As you remember the Orientation was changed and went much better. You see, I think the problem is that there isn’t enough participation. No, I don’t mean that no one goes to the events, but rather that the only groups that hold events are the social commission, the bed race people and the basket ball team. The frats go for themselves. This is an idea that would enable all clubs and organizations to participate in a way that would be enjoyable for the entire campus. And it would make money, too. Let’s have a Homecoming Carnival right after the Home coming game. What? Yes, a carnival, with each club, frat, sorority, organization making a booth for games and amuse ments. Students could come, faculty and family, townies too could enjoy. Yes, in the pines or beside the gym a real carnival could be erected. I’ve even thought of what some of the clubs could do for Bicycle Race Set (Continued from Page 1) psychology major, are coordi nating details of the bicycle race. Further information about the racing procedures is available from either Mann or Martin, who may be reached at N. C. Wesleyan College. There will be charge for entering the race nor for spec tators. (P Creative Arts G)ntest their part. The Athletic Com mission could set up a basketball goal and charge a quarter for three shots. If you make all three you get a prize. The Interfaith Commission could have a burst the balloon booth and give prizes. Nu ■ Gamma Phi, ADX and Sig 0 could play variations on a theme . . . dunk a Chi, Pie a Phi, Tomato a Sig 0 . . . lots of people might pay lots of money to do that. Someone could get a junk car and let people smash it with a sledge hammer ... for a price. Aspects or the Bruits could have an old book sale. Somebody could have a rum mage sale. The possibilities are endless. And it might be fun, too. And Profitable. There are endless possibilities and I’m sure that your club could come up with a money making concession. The Sooner Club could even sponsor a Hoochie-Kootchie Show . . . but on second thought perhaps we’d better stick to selling bumper stick ers. Elections Held October 12 was another voting day on the Wesleyan campus. Since all offices were not filled in the previous election Greg Williams, Elec tions Chairman and Eddy Scarboro, Vice - President, made plans for the second election. The Sophomore Class had still lacked a secretary and treasurer. These offices were filled by Terri Cook and Mike Irby respectively. The Freshman Class elected an entire slate of officers with Tracy Tice being chosen as President, David Ross V.P., Anna Galfana Treasurer, and Jane Morgan Secretary. One Senator from each dorm was also elected, rounding out -the number at three. Bob Larenzon was elected from South, Lynda Land from North, Lorie Hardison from Nash and Jeff Swager was elected from Edgecombe. The only offices not yet filled are day student senators.
