There was definitely not a lack of things to do. “The Shining” started the week off in suspense and horror. For those of you who like sports, the volleyball and soccer teams each competed in three different matches. Probably the most popular events of Homecoming were the Pie Throwing Contest, the Pig Pickin’, the Homecoming Dance, and the Mud Fest. The Pie Throw was held Thursday, October 7 during lunch on the Patio. Numerous campus “celebrities” were auctioned off for a chance to smash them with cream-filled pies. Friday, the cheerleaders held a pep rally in the cafeteria to light the fires of spirit. With the Wesleyan campus in a frenzy of spirit the poor pig at the Belmont Racket Club didn’t have a chance. Following the athletic events on Saturday, Wesleyan students and alumni had a chane to boogie at Josh Bullock’s Restaurant to the sounds of Infinity. The band literally blew the students right out of Josh Bullock’s. During the intermission the 1982 Homecoming Queen was crowned. Several campus organizations sponsored some of Wesleyan’s finest beauty. The Queen was selected by students voting on Friday, October 8. The Homecoming Court consisted of Anna Surmaj (Nu Summa Phi), Robin Lane (Pi Kappa Omega ) , Margaret McSpadden (Alpha Delta Chi), Mary EUis (Sigma Phi Delta), Dee Johnson (Pi Epsilon), Cynthia Lee (SAGA Corp.), Angela Gilliam (Cheerleaders), Lisa Williams (Senior Class), Shelley Costello (Junior Class), Beth Hayes (Edgecomb Hall), Shari MacSuga (Nash Hall), Weston Towe (North Hall), and Patricia Bickerstaff (Sophomore Class). Congratulations to Robin Lane who was crowned Homecoming Queen and first runner-up Dee Johnson. The Homecoming activities were concluded on Sunday, October 10 with a romp in the mud. The 1982 Homecoming week was a great success, and all of us are looking anxiously toward next year’s Homecoming. Cynthia Lee , I Mary Ellis Shari MacSuga Margaret McSpadden ^ ■ Patricia Bickerstaff
