Last year’s Executive Board did not leave current board members enough information to make a smooth transition into this school year. Now, midway into the first se mester, things are up and running. Terrell Adgers, this year’s president of SGA, said “1 am will ing to fight the fight.” He is will ing to work hard so the students have a voice. “We have a “good senate with the right leadership, though a good senate is no better than the people that they repre sent,” he said. Adgers said that his job as president is “to be the go-between to the students and faculty, to make sure the school doesn’t overtook the students, and to set a course for the senate.” He added, “I know what seg ments of the students want, not all but I am damn sure going to do my best to find cut.” Yearbook photo stirs controversy By FELICIA M. Student Government Associa tion President Terrell Adgers said he found the picture offensive. “The fact that it was printed offended me more than the fact that he (the anonymous student) took it (the picture). It bothers me as a black student and as SGA president,” he said. “As the presi dent, I believe that people will look at the yearbook 20 years from now and say, ‘Oh, that type of thing went on at Wesleyan,’ and as a black man I am offended because it will look like I did noth ing about it. “A yearbook staff is supposed to be a safeguard to oversee ma terials placed in the yearbook. Apparently this didn’t work,” he said. SGA Vice-president, John Radzicki agreed with Adgers: “It is distasteful and should not (Continued on Back Page) Search committees on track to fill top slots By JESSICA COHOON North Carolina Wesleyan may not have vacancies in three upper management positions for too much longer. The committees of these positions have been work ing hard to fill these positions as quick as possible. Dr. Kenneth Finney is the chairperson for the Vice Presi dent of Academic Affairs/Dean of the College. “The committee has just put out the ad for the position as of Oct. 16,” says Dr. Finney. “The committee has not heard any re sponse yet.” The Dean has the responsibil ity of taking charge whenever the president is absent. The Dean is the administrator of the Academic Affairs which includes the tasks of recruiting faculty and academic affairs staff, and teaching evalua tions. Dr. C. Dale Therrien is the chair for the Vice President of Academic Support/Dean of Adult Programs. As of right now, he said, “the committee is screen ing candidates and they are doing ‘first cuts.’” The Vice President of Aca demic Support/Dean of Adult Programs runs the Adult Degree Program and the Evening Col lege here at Wesleyan. This posi tion requires assisting in adver tising, marketing, and represent ing the college and the Adult De gree Programs. This person also will oversee the Library and the office of the Registrar. The Vice President of Devel opment search committee is headed by Dean Robert Busson. At the present time the commit tee is looking at two candidates. When the final decision to be inade is not known at this time. This new position will be respon sible for making sure the college' is financially where it is supposed to be. The Vice President of Devel opment is also responsible for planning and administrating sup port groups, keeping prospective donor and voluntary supports records up to date, working with the Development Association, the Parents’ Association, the Board of Distinguished Visitors, and the Alumni Association
