To get a heads up on these changes, I interviewed the president. Dr. Newbould. When asked, “What new changes should students look forward to this school year?” he replied with a smile and said, “An increase in the amount of new faculty. The new faculty have great new ideas for student development and they have a great way of thinking.” He continued to say that among hiring new faculty, changes would be more than academic but they would include extracurricular activities and dorm life. “There is a complete change in the dorms. We have beautiful young people who are on the move to make dorm life as much a community as possible. There has been major change for better things. Students like the feel of care and want to live in a settled environment.” To ensure that students have a sense of care and live in a settled environment, there are new expectations for the incoming freshmen as well as for the returning students. Security has been increased to ensure the students’ sense of care. To help the students get involved in the community and to speak of what they want, there will be dorm councils and community board meetings available. “I am very happy with these changes and feel that they will help bring more students to the school and create a positive environment for new as well as old students and ^ faculty members.” When asked if B he would like to write a column for , the newspaper, once '/ again he smiled and said, “Sure.” Some of the new changes have already taken place and there are more to come. Keep reading to stay up to date on these changes and to read from The President’s Corner. So many of them swarmed to the Dunn Center to pick up their keys and information packets. The excitement of finally going to college along with the fear of leaving home was the feeling of most of the freshmen. From Wednesday until Monday, the freshmen had a week full of exciting things to get them in the groove for their first year of college. Every day they had a different activity to enjoy, including a day of community service, breakfast with the president, a pig picking, and a welcome party. Although the week has ended, the College 101 class will pick up where Orientation left off. Momin’ comes early for community service.
