1 - 3 - EMPLOYEES RETIRE AT KERNERSVILLE FRED DEAN GLADYS STRADER I* * Fred Dean, left, receives an interim payment of his Profit Sharing Plan account from Howard Young, plant superintendent. Robert Boyles, general superintendent, joins in ex pressing appreciation to Dean for his forty years of service with Adams- Millis. n, Mrs. Gladys Strader, Finishing Department clipper of Plant #4, re tired August 26, on the basis of physical disability. Mrs. Strader had been employed in several capacities since 1943, shortly after the death of her husband. Mrs. Strader, the former Gladys Watson, is a life-long resident of Kernersville. Her father operated a hardware store in Kernersville where Gladys had helped with the family business before coming to Adams- Millis. She now lives in the Watson home on Railroad Street with her two sisters, Rebecca Watson and Anita Graves, both of whom are employed in Plant #4. Rebecca is employed in the plant office and Anita is in the Finishing Department. Fred Dean, fixer. Plant #4, re tired on August 17, i960, due to dis ability. Although he has continued to work, Fred's physical condition has not been good for several years. Dean was first employed with Adams-Millis in 1918. He learned to knit and was later promoted to fix ing. In 1927, he left for other em ployment, but returned to Plant #4 in July of 1930 as a night watchman. A year later. Dean was transferred to fixing where he remained until retirement. Born in 1902, Fred has spent practically all of his life in Kerners ville. With the exception of three years, his work has been with Adams Millis. Dean expressed regret for accidents but feels personally responsible when he makes a hole in one.” having to retire, but found it impos sible to continue working because of his health. He will be remembered for his faithfulness and loyalty to his job. On many days that he reported for work, he realized it was not in the best interest of his health.
