NEWS AROUND THE PLANTS Plant One Bertie E. Mar shall and Basil D. French were mar ried on March 24, 1961, at Montlieu Avenue Baptist Church by the Rev. C. K. Rand. Bertie is employed in the Finishing Depart ment of Plant #1. Our congratulations and best wishes to the newlyweds ! J. M. Pendry, of the Order and Stock Department of Plant #1, has bought himself a new tractor to plow his garden. He did have a horse to pull his plow, but he became too lazy to follow the horse--and, now, he's thinking of making himself a ladder so it will be easier to mount the tractor. What a case of spring fever! Shirley and Bobby Dotson recently visited Silver Springs, Florida, and other points of interest down that way. Shirley is a seamer at Plant #1. Pointer Hazel Green, of the Finishing De partment, was most pleased to have her daughter, Bonnie, visit her over the weekend. Bonnie is a nurse at the George Washington University Hospital in Washington, D. C. Elizabeth Moore, a mender at the Pointer, has returned home from the hospital and is recuperating nicely. We hope she can soon be back at work. Have you noticed that pleased ex pression on Lena Snyder's face? It's all because of that_^new grandson who was born on April 1. Wives can find spring-cleaning aids at the grocery, the hardware store and out on the golf course. Surely is good to see Supervisor Joe Montgomery back in the Looping and Seaming Department after an eight-weeks' absence during which he underwent major surgery. Welcome back, too, to Nora Stroud and Lena Strickland, seamers of Plant #6; Margie Nelson, knitter of Plant #6; and Imogene Weir, mender of Plant #6; all of whom have been hospital patients recently. Congratulations and best wishes to Buddy Handy and data Smith who were married on April 1 at Abbotts Creek Baptist Church. Buddy is a fixer of Plant #6. Plant Seven Ruth Thomas, AMCO reporter for the Boarding Department, is doing nicely after undergoing surgery in the Baptist Hospital in Winston. Having her daughter (Judy) and granddaughter from Florida with her should have her on the mend in no time. Surely hope so, anyway! Signs of Spring in the Boarding De - partment: Dorcas Thomas with a sunburn! Ruth Fulton with rosebud earrings ! Nell Chapman with a sleeveless blouse ! Hinshaw yawning! Clockwatchers, all! Welcome back to Mary Henderson, boarder, who has been out on leave with her new baby. Slim Boyles, boarding supervisor, took an early vacation. He spent a few days in Newport News, Virginia, visit ing his nephew's family and their new baby. Said he had a very enjoyable trip. We wish Hazel Pope a lot of luck in her new job as a beauty operator. After - 10 -
