C.rr. HARTSOE IS SECRETARY OF ADAMS-MILLIS C. W. HARTSOE Charles W. Hartsoe has assumed the duties of secretary and assistant treasurer of Adams-Millis Corpora tion, the position to which he was named at the March meeting of the board of directors. Hartsoe, a Certified Public Ac countant, formerly with Ernst and Ernst of Winston-Salem, is a native or Rising Sun, Maryland, where he was reared on a farm. His parents are natives of Ashe County, North Carolina. Following his graduation from the University of Maryland with a B. S. Degree and a major in accounting, Hartsoe was with Firestone Stores in Silver Spring, Maryland, as office and credit manager for a year. Beginning in 1950, he spent two years in the Army at Arlington, Virginia, with the Armed Forces Security Agency. Upon his discharge from the Army in November of 1952, Hartsoe joined Ernst and Ernst in Winston-Salem as a junior accountant. During the seven years following, he rose successively to senior accountant, supervisor and assistant manager, having remained as assistant manager since October, 1959. One of his first auditing assign ments with Einst and Ernst in 1952 was the account of Adams-Millis Corporation. He has worked with most of the audits of Adams-Millis since then and is familiar with the operations of the company. Working with the audits took him into most of our plants during inventory counts. His experience in auditing the finan cial statements and records of Adams- Millis for eight years has given him familiarity with our financial opera tions . Hartsoe is the third accountant from Ernst and Ernst to become secretary of Adams-Millis Corpora tion. The late T. C. Langley was with the same firm prior to joining Adams-Millis as was H. O. Williams, successor to Mr. Langley and secre tary and treasurer prior to Hartsoe's appointment. This is an indication of the good relationship between Adams- Millis and the firm which has audited its financial statements for many years. Charles Hartsoe is married to the former Colleen Ivey of Corpus Christi, Texas; they have three children, seven-year-old Eileen, five-year-old Karen and three-year- old Charles. They are now living in Winston-Salem but plan to move to High Point this summer. They are members of St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Winston. Hartsoe also holds membership in the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and in the North Carolina Association of Certified Public Accountants. - 3 -
