NEWS AROUND THE PLANTS Plant One Clara Lohr, of the Sample De partment, visited points in Florida-- Miami, Daytona Beach and Silver Springs--during the Christmas holi days. While there, she had her hair all done up in a bee hive hair-do and really lived it up. Your Sample Department re porter says that folks over her way were especially pleased with and appreciated the beautiful silver trays they received from the company as a Christmas gift. Pointer Shelby Long spent Christmas with her parents in Tabor City, N. C. For the first time since 1948, Clara Dennis had her daughter home for Christmas. Her daughter just recently returned from Cuba. Donna Allred spent Christmas with her husband who is in service and stationed at Ft. McClellan in Alabama. Edyth Jones visited her in-laws at Sylva, N. C. , during Christmas. Jessie Mullis had her daughter from Maryland to spend the holidays with her. Gladys Adams spent Christmas in Key West and Miami, Florida. Gladys says she likes that Florida sunshine. It's nice Christmas didn't come in January, isn't it? She might have felt differently about the Florida sunshine. Plant Six It's good to see Clara Frazier back at her inspecting machine at Plant #6. Clara has been out quite a while because of illness. Nona Thompson has returned to work after being in the hospital. Glad to have her back with us. Nona is an inspector in Plant #6. Plant Seven From the Finishing Department: Hannah Powell, folder of Plant #7, had relatives from Northfield, Vermont visit her during the Christmas holiday. Guess who was wearing a big diamond ring when she returned to work after Christmas? None other than Frankie Nealy. The lucky guy is Arthur Moore and the date is Febru ary 24! Welcome to Imogene Weir, new timekeeper in the Finishing Depart ment of Plant #7. Imogene hails from the Inspecting Department of Plant #6. We're happy to have her! Hazel Gray, mender, went to the Sunshine State for a few days during the Christmas holidays. She visited in Miami and West Palm Beach. We're glad to see Mabel Smith back at her folding table--she's been out because of illness. We're happry to report that Jim Lewis, Pairing Department super visor, is at home and practically mended after undergoing surgery at the local hospital. From the Boarding Department: Christmas for 1961 is now a time of the past, and we hope all the de partments of Adams-Millis can re member it with as much love, happi ness and good will as the Boarding Room can. Both shifts enjoyed a delicious meal prepared by The White House Grill--a meal saddened only by the fact that R. M. ("Slim") Boyles was not in attendance. We know that "Slim" would have been proud of the kind words that Claude Eddinger spoke on his behalf in his Christmas talk to those in attendance. Then, there was the exchanging -10-
