VACATION NEWS Experimental &: Planning Departments: Mary Ellen Koonts, of the Experi mental Department, and her husband, B. L. , spent their vacation at Carolina Beach and went on a driftwood hunting trip--to where, they're not quite sure, but the only way there and back is by jeep. In spite of much rain, Mary Ellen is sporting a nice tan. Pansy Davis, also of Experimental, and Betty Johnson, her sister, of the Finishing Department of Plant #1, de cided to try out Betty‘s new Ford during their vacation--so, they took their family (Mother, Father and Pansy's daughter) to Titusville, Florida, to visit relatives. While in Florida, they also visited other points of interest, including Daytona Beach where Pansy says she got most of her tan. Gene Yow, of the Planning Depart ment, didn't get to take a vacation, but he sent his family to White Lake and he "batched. " He says he ate eggs three times 3l day and was nice and trim when Betty and the children got back. Print Shop: Addline and Walter Hill, along with little (not so little, any longer) Jimmie, visited with friends at Cherokee. Charlie Deviney worked during most of vacation but did manage a couple of trips down to Candor to the old fishin' hole. No report on the catch. (Must not have been so good. ) Ruth Ellington and her husband visited their son at Cocoa Beach and Cape Canaveral, Florida. Warehouse: George Neal, vacationing with his family at Sunset Beach, did some deep sea fishing--says he caught some nice ones. Sample Department: The beaches were the favorite of the Sample Department vacationers. Modell Stamey and her husband went to Windy Hill; James Johnson and his family went to Carolina Beach; Lassie Crotts and family and lone Calhoun and husband chose Myrtle Beach for their vacations. Forrest and Lois also spent their vacation at the beach. PLANT #1 Knitting Department: Many employees of the Knitting Department spent their vacation holi days at the beaches. Those at Myrtle Beach were: Leo Griffin and his wife; Ulysses Workman and family; Allen McDaniel and family, who also spent some time in Gatlinburg, Tennessee; Louise Rabon and her family; Earline Williams and her family; Yvonne Phil lips and her husband; Shirley Rozier and her family; Evelyn Brown and family; Sylvia Clodfelter and family; and Grace Mozeley and her family, who also visited in Johnson City, Tennessee. Those choosing Carolina Beach were Walter Webb and his family and Mark Shankle. Jerry Smith took his family to Crescent Beach for vacationing. Raymond Stamey and his family went to Windy Hill. Emmett Corder vacationed at Sycamore Beach. Others decided the moxmtains were best. Among those were Lucille and Cecil Miller, who visited with relatives in Icard, N. C.; Hazel Wyatt and her family, who visited in the Blue Ridges; Vibla Line berry, who chose Galax, Virginia; Gordon Prince, who spent his holidays at CuUowhee; Claude Cook, who visited Nantahala; Arnold Laws, who, with his family, spent some time in the mountains of Kentucky; Ralph Byrd, who vacationed at Bryson City; Kenneth Stamey, who visited relatives in Franklin; Roy Hayes and his wife, who spent their vacation at Blowing Rock; Robert Yates and family, who visited Relatives in Galax, Va.; and Reece Horton and family, who visited Chim Rock. - 10 -
